Interaction with embodied mediation technology for musical activities is a fairly young but intriguing research domain that requires building and testing of paradigms. In this paper an experimental framework is presented that has been used to test subject’s sense of embodiment in sound identification and creation. A preliminary experiment is described that is part of an ongoing series of studies set up to evaluate embodied mediation technology, test methodologies and interfaces for user-oriented approaches to embodied music cognition. Overionization in X-ray spectra: a new paradigm for Mixed-Morphology SNRs

Mixed-morphology SNRs are characterized by a shell-like radio emission, a centrally peaked X-ray morphology, and by interaction with molecular clouds. Many models have been proposed to explain these peculiar remnants, but their physical origin is still unclear. The recent discovery of over-ionized (i. e. recombining) ejecta in 3 mixed-morphology SNRs has dramatically challenged all the previous models and opened up new, unexpected scenarios. I review the main properties of these remnants and their peculiar X-ray spectral properties. Un/doing calculation: on knowledge practices of risk management

From small enterprises all the way up to financial markets, economic calculation is an activity routinely conducted in economic life-worlds. This paper argues that calculation is situated in the practice of participants involved in these life-worlds as well as in the technological tools they use. Background: It has been found that including volunteers in palliative care is a positive contribution to seriously ill patients. It is, however, recommended that the volunteers are trained and supported. The aim of this study was to describe a group of trained and supported volunteers’ lived experiences as volunteers in palliative care within the community health care services. In poetry, as well as in a good part of prose works, the rhythm of words is the music that governs reason and emotion. Literature occupies an important place in my creation. In this article I describe the different procedures in which I configure its presence in my music and the main themes in four of my works: Envoi, Como el viento, Maya and Transmutación.
