Extensions of representable linear functionals to unitized quasi *-algebras

This paper starts from noting that, under certain conditions, *-representability and extensibility to the unitized *-algebra of a positive linear functional, defined on a *-algebra without unit, are equivalent. Here some conditions for the equivalence of the same concepts for a hermitian linear functional defined on a quasi *-algebra $(\A,\Ao)$ without unit are given. The purpose of my study is to examine how female skiers are represented in the texts of a Finnish sports magazine, Urheilulehti, and how these representations have changed during the examination period from 1905 to 2010. Tässä artikkelissa tarkastelen, miten suomalaisnuorten lukutaitoa ja lukemista merkityksellistetään sukupuolittuneena ja sukupuolittavana ilmiönä 2000-luvun uutisteksteissä. Artikkeli perustuu pro gradu -tutkielmaani (Sorri 2017), jossa tutkin suomalaisnuorten lukutaidon sukupuolieroa käsitteleviä uutistekstejä vuosilta 2013–2016. 2000-luvulla tehtyjen PISA-tutkimusten myötä tyttöjen ja poikien erilainen lukutaitomenestys on noussut merkittäväksi puheenaiheeksi joukkotiedotusvälineissä. Understanding Batesian mimicry is a classic problem in evolutionary biology. In Batesian mimicry, a defended species (the model) is mimicked by an undefended species (the mimic). Prior theories have emphasized the role of predator behavior and learning as well as evolution in model-mimic complexes but have not examined the role of population dynamics in potentially governing the relative abundances and even persistence of model-mimic systems. Here, we examined the effect of the population dynamics of predators and alternative prey on the prevalence of warning-signaling prey composed of models and mimics.
