Abstract Reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces regression procedures for prediction of total genetic value for quantitative traits, which make use of phenotypic and genomic data simultaneously, are discussed from a theoretical perspective. It is argued that a nonparametric treatment may be needed for capturing the multiple and complex interactions potentially arising in whole-genome models, i.e., those based on thousands of single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers. Complete 1H and 13C NMR assignments of clerodane diterpenoids of Salvia splendens.

Unambiguous and complete assignments of 1H and 13C NMR chemical shifts for five clerodane diterpenes, four of them isolated from Salvia splendens (salviarin, splendidin and splenolides A and B) and one obtained by acetylation of splenolide A, are presented. The assignments are based on 2D shift-correlated [1H,1H–COSY, 1H,13C-gHSQC–1J(C,H) and 1H,13C-gHMBC-nJ(C,H) (n = 2 and 3)] and nuclear Overhauser effect (NOE) experiments. The conformation of the rings of these compounds is supported by the 3J(H,H) values and NOE results. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
La didactique clinique comme mode d’accès aux savoirs des enseignants en ÉPS : le cas de l’enseignement du judo

Cette étude à visée exploratoire et compréhensive met en évidence les savoirs personnels des enseignants transmis en cours d’ÉPS. La recherche présente trois vignettes didactiques cliniques d’enseignants spécialistes de judo. Les résultats montrent que ces savoirs personnels se sont construits pendant la pratique sportive du judo lorsque ceux-ci étaient de jeunes pratiquants. Le rôle du « déjà-là expérientiel » et ses effets sur les conceptions des professeurs sont mis en avant, en lien avec les savoirs personnels. Compte tenu des effets déterminants des « déjà-là expérientiels et conceptuels », nous proposons quelques pistes de travail pour la formation initiale des enseignants d’ÉPS.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this research is to evaluate the efficacy of manual therapy for tension-type headache (TTH) in restoring workers quality of work life, and how work presenteeism affects this relation.DESIGN: This study is a secondary analysis of a factorial, randomized clinical trial on manual therapy interventions. Prolonging working hours and presenteeism have been conceptualized as self-endangering coping behaviors in employees, which are related to health impairment. Drawing upon the self-regulation of behavior model, the goal achievement process, and Warr's vitamin model, we examined the antecedents and moderation effects regarding quantitative demands, autonomy, emotion regulation, and self-motivation competence of university students' self-endangering coping behaviors (showing prolonging working hours and presenteeism). Change is a constant ingredient of modern work life. Thus, job demands and the complexity of job tasks that workers are required to accomplish and perform in everyday work are increasing in organizations and firms. Increasing job demands and incessant changes may be stressful, at least for certain employees, and cause significant and long-lasting health effects as well. Most individuals spend a substantial portion of their total time at work. Thus, work-related behaviours have significant spillover effects on other aspects of life. For these reasons, work-related sickness is also a particularly important aspect of employee well-being from the broader economic perspective. peerReviewed
