Are remote sensing evapotranspiration models reliable across South American ecoregions?

Many remote sensing-based evapotranspiration (RSBET) algorithms have been proposed in the past decades and evaluated using flux tower data, mainly over North America and Europe. Model evaluation across South America has been done locally or using only a single algorithm at a time. Here, we provide the first evaluation of multiple RSBET models, at a daily scale, across a wide variety of biomes, climate zones, and land uses in South America. Abstract High-throughput mapping of latent heat flux (λET) is critical to efforts to optimize water resources management and to accelerate forest tree breeding for improved drought tolerance. Ideally, investigation of the energy response at the tree level may promote tailored irrigation strategies and, thus, maximize crop biomass productivity. This article offers a full updating of the biographical records of the writer Joan Roís de Corella (1435-1497) and his family: his great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, siblings and children. All data are presented in a systematic way, generation by generation, and a new vision of the writer himself is offered. In its documentary section, 432 documents are transcribed or summarised, dating from 1373 to 1516. A broad range of new archival data is presented; other previously known data are corrected or improved. The imperial cult in Late Antiquity (4th-6th cent. AD) can be interpreted as a significant juridical fossile, which conveys the inner contradictions of the so called “era of Constantine”. An epigraphic and prosopographic analysis of the high priests of the imperial cult (flamines, sacerdotes and coronati in the West, ἀρχιερεῖς in the East) would point out the lasting importance of these dignitaries between the ages of Diocletian and Justinian, especially in the case of provincial high priests, who were in the same time presidents of federal assemblies (concilia, κοινά) and played a primary role in the “religious reforms” planned by Maximinus Daia and Julian the Apostate.

Summary The so-called cat’s coffin of prince Thutmose (Egyptian Museum Cairo, CG 5003), which was allegedly found during an excavation at Mit Rahina in 1892, is a curious monument. Whilst prince Thutmose is commonly regarded as a son of Amenhotep III, this coffin so far delivers the only known example for him as “eldest king’s son” and high priest of Ptah at Memphis. But, for several reasons, its authenticity seems to be very dubious.

Ezechiel był prorokiem głoszącym sąd Boży nad Izraelem oraz nad narodami (Ez 1–32); zapowiadał również odnowę ludu Jahwe i jego ziemi (Ez 33–48). W nowym środowisku Izraela będzie odprawiony ryt oczyszczenia (Ez 45,18-20). Celebrowane będą także święta pielgrzymkowe: Pascha oraz Namiotów (Ez 45,21-25). This dissertation and the four separate articles contained therein examine Finnish pastors as builders of the Swedish state from the 1550s to the 1610s. The subject is studied from three perspectives. First, the relationship between the crown and the church (and the pastors) is explored. Second, the study investigates the relationship between the pastors and local communities. The third aspect connects the first two as it sheds light on the pastors’ role as intermediators between local communities and the crown.
