Abstract The paper has as objective the estimation of the error in the structural analysis performed by using the displacement approach of the Symmetric Galerkin Boundary Element Method (SGBEM) and suggests a strategy able to reduce this error through an appropriate change of the boundary discretization. This study analyses the chemical composition and in vitro antioxidant activity of both the essential oil and the 80% aqueous acetone extract of Tetraclinis articulata leaves. The GC-MS analysis of the essential oil identified 66 components that comprise 93.5% of the oil. The major constituents of the oil are: bornyl acetate (31.4%), α-pinène (24.5%) and camphor (20.3%). Antioxidant activities of the samples were determined using four different test systems, namely DPPH, β-carotene/linoleic acid, reducing power and metal chelating activity assay. Effect of sequential inoculum of beta-glucosidase positive and probiotic strains on brine fermentation to obtain low salt sicilian table olives

In the present study, the β-glucosidase positive strain Lactobacillus plantarum F3. 3 was used as starter during the fermentation of Sicilian table olives (Nocellara Etnea cultivar) at two different salt concentrations (5 and 8%), in order to accelerate the debittering process. The latter was monitored through the increase of hydroxytyrosol compound. In addition, the potential probiotic Lactobacillus paracasei N24 strain was added after 60 days of fermentation. It offers an interpretation of Milton Friedman's famous essay of 1953 in which, contrary to most discussions, Friedman's solution to the problem does make sense. Under that interpretation, Friedman does not assert that one should test the consequences of a theory but not its assumptions, that one can predict but not explain, or that individuals behave as if they were rational and firms as if they maximized profits. Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) is the most common malignant, locally-invasive tumour of the salivary glands, and accounts for approximately 35% of all malignancies of the major and minor salivary gland. Minor salivary glands are scattered in different areas of the oral cavity such as palate, retromolar area, floor of the mouth, buccal mucosa, lips and tongue. MECs of tongue base are not common. We present a rare case of MEC localised at the tongue base in a 42-year-old Caucasian woman and discuss the histopathological types, management and review the literature. The model can be used for planning and simulating critical steps of a surgical approach. Therefore, it is important that anatomical structures such as blood vessels inside a tumor can be printed to be colored not only on their surface, but throughout their whole volume.
