Isobaric vapor–liquid equilibrium for binary mixtures of 2-methylpentane+ethanol and +2-methyl-2-propanol

Abstract Vapor–liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for the binary systems, 2-methylpentane+ethanol and 2-methylpentane+2-methyl-2-propanol (TBA), are reported at 101.3 kPa, including pure component vapor pressures. The systems deviate remarkably from ideal behaviour presenting one positive azeotrope. The activity coefficients and boiling points of the solutions were correlated with its composition by Wilson, UNIQUAC, NRTL, and Wisniak–Tamir equations.

Vapor−liquid equilibria for trichloroethylene + 1-butanol, and + 2-butanol are reported at 20 and 100 kPa. The two systems satisfy the point-to-point thermodynamic consistency test. Both systems show a positive deviation from ideality.

Child specific activation in left auditory cortex predicts behavioral performance in inhibition tasks

Sensory processing during development is important for the emerging cognitive skills underlying goal-directed behavior. Yet, it is not known how auditory processing in children is related to their cognitive functions. Here, we utilized combined magneto- and electroencephalographic (M/EEG) measurements to show that child-unique auditory cortical activity at ∼250 ms after auditory stimulation predicts the performance in inhibition tasks. While unaffected by task demands, the amplitude of the left-hemisphere activation pattern was significantly correlated with the variability of behavioral response time. The paper analyzes the performance of Hydrus-2D model to simulate the dynamic of soil water contents and transpiration fluxes in an olive orchard in which two different irrigation systems were used in 2011 and 2012. The relationship between measured midday stem water potential, MSWP, and simulated relative transpiration (ratio between simulated actual and maximum crop transpiration), Ks, was also identified with the aim to use the model for crop water status predictions. Initial Enlargement in a Markov chain market model

Enlargement of filtrations is a classical topic in the general theory of stochastic processes. This theory has been applied to stochastic finance in order to analyze models with insider information. In this paper we study initial enlargement in a Markov chain market model, introduced by Norberg. In the enlarged filtration, several things can happen: some of the jumps times can be accessible or predictable, but in the original filtration all the jumps times are totally inaccessible. But even if the jumps times change to accessible or predictable, the insider does not necessarily have arbitrage possibilities.

Abstract Objectives This paper is based on the analysis of the database of operations from a macro-case on money laundering orchestrated between a core company and a group of its suppliers, 26 of which had already been identified by the police as fraudulent companies. Transport policy and climate change: How to decide when experts disagree

Abstract Transport is the sector with the fastest growth of greenhouse gases emissions in many countries. Accumulation of these emissions may cause uncertain and irreversible adverse climate change impacts. In this context, we use the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to face the question on how to select the best transport policy if the experts have different opinions and beliefs on the occurrence of these impacts. In this research we investigate whether there is a relationship between the ethical behaviour of insurance brokers and their operating performance. Specifically, we focus on the practice of deferring the premiums charged to clients in order to invest them in short–term financial products and, as a result, gain an additional financial return to their traditional sources of income.
