Stillage as a Source of Growth Promoting Biofactors and a Stimulator of Levan and Extracellular Levansucrase Synthesis for Zymomonas mobilis

In the present work, the fermentation of simultaneous production of ethanol and levan by Zymomonas mobilis grown on different growth media has been studied. Yeast extract, rye stillage or sugar beet molasses stillage were used as additives to the basic sucrose media and the chemical composition, including vitamins, of the cultivation liquids have been determined. It has been shown that 0.5 % of yeast extract dry weight additive could be substituted by 10.0 % of native stillage additive. It was established that molasses stillage stimulates the ethanol synthesis, but rye stillage additive is more preferable for levan production. Effect of Oxidized Potato Starch on the Physicochemical Properties of Soy Protein Isolate-Based Edible Films

The influence of oxidized starch on the physicochemical properties of cast soy protein isolate films is determined in this study. Films were cast from heated (70 °C for 20 min) alkaline (pH=10) aqueous solutions of 7 % soy protein isolate containing 50 % (by mass) glycerol as a plasticizer and different levels of added oxidized starch (0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 %, by mass). Energy storage technology is crucial for the development of the use of renewable energy sources. This is a substantial constraint, however it can, to some extent, be solved by storing energy in its various forms: electrical, mechanical, chemical and thermal. This article presents the results of research in thermal properties of granular deposits. Correlation between temperature changes in the stores over a period of time and their physical properties has been studied. Numerical models of heat and moisture transfer for performance forecast of lightweight insulating assemblies require many inputs. These include exterior climate data (i.e. temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation), interior climate data or standard models, transfer coefficients, correct initial conditions, etc. Most importantly, one needs reliable material models. This paper presents the benefits and drawbacks of replacing the traditional Si Mosfets transistors with enhancement mode GaN transistors in a Half-Bridge Zero Voltage and Zero Current Switching Power Switching (ZVZCPS) converter. This type of converters is usually used as Electronic Power Converters (EPC) for telecommunication satellites travelling-wave tube amplifiers (TWTAs). In this study, firstly the converter is theoretically analysed, obtaining its operation, losses and efficiency equations. Erosión costera y cambio ambiental en el humeral de Cabanes-Torreblanca (Castelló). Datos para una gestión sostenible

A progressive increase in salinity and marine influence, related to local subsidence characterize the evolution of the lagoon of Cabanes Torreblanca. Relative sea level rise, caused saltwater intrusion and landward migration of the barrier. This barrier is recessive (60-20 m in the last 50 years) and its current processes show a sedimentary deficit that can lead to rapid and irreversible changes. The information shown by this research can help to achieve a sustainable management.

La intensidad de lluvia en entornos mediterráneos. Valores extremos según la escala de observación

Este trabajo estudia la estructura de las intensidades máximas de lluvia a diferentes escalas de observación, entre los 5 minutos y las 24 horas, en la Confederación Hidrográfica del Júcar, en base a datos del SAIH (1994-2007). Aborda además la influencia de los factores de altitud y distancia al mar, así como de la exposición del territorio: litoral-interior y compartimentación general del relieve. Los resultados muestran una gran dependencia de la intensidad en relación con la escala de observación, una influencia significativa de la distancia al mar y dos patrones de intensidad.
