Apsūdzības saturs
2021
Maģistra darbā tiek pētīts apsūdzības saturs, apskatot apsūdzības institūtu Latvijā jēdziena plašākā nozīmē, veicot tā normu analizēšanu, galvenos tiesību īstenošanas aspektus un problemātiku. Darba mērķis ir apzināt pašreizējo situāciju praksē, saskatīt problēmas un piedāvāt iespējamos risinājumus pašreizējā regulējuma uzlabošanai problēmjautājumu kontekstā. Autore, izvērtējot iegūto informāciju, maģistra darbā piedāvā iespējamos grozījumus Kriminālprocesa likumā, piedāvā paplašināt Kriminālprocesa likuma 405. panta pirmo daļu ar apsūdzības definējumu, izsakot attiecīgajā redakcijā, tādejādi veidojot vienotu izpratni par apsūdzības definējumu. Tāpat darbā tiek piedāvāti grozījumi un ieteik…
Līdzdalības pieejas pašvaldību attīstības plānošanā: Cēsu pašvaldības piemērs
2016
Līdzdalība lēmumu pieņemšanā pēdējo gadu laikā kļūst par arvien aktuālāku tēmu attīstības plānošanas jomā gan pasaulē, gan Latvijā, taču Latvijas pašvaldību attīstības plānošanas praksē līdzdalības pieejas un metodes tiek maz pielietotas. Maģistra darba mērķis ir izstrādāt uz teorētisko pamatojumu balstītu rokasgrāmatu līdzdalības pieeju ieviešanai pašvaldību attīstības plānošanas praksē. Maģistra darbā tiek apskatīta līdzdalības loma demokrātiskā pārvaldes sistēmā, tiek aprakstīts līdzdalības koncepts un līdzdalības pieejas. Maģistra darba ietvaros apskatīta Cēsu pieredze līdzdalības veidošanā. Maģistra darbs sastāv no ievada, sešām nodaļām un secinājumiem, izmantotās literatūras saraksta …
Xrn1 influence on gene transcription results from the combination of general effects on elongating RNA pol II and gene-specific chromatin configurati…
2020
mRNA homoeostasis is favoured by crosstalk between transcription and degradation machineries. Both the Ccr4-Not and the Xrn1-decaysome complexes have been described to influence transcription. While Ccr4-Not has been shown to directly stimulate transcription elongation, the information available on how Xrn1 influences transcription is scarce and contradictory. In this study we have addressed this issue by mapping RNA polymerase II (RNA pol II) at high resolution, using CRAC and BioGRO-seq techniques in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. We found significant effects of Xrn1 perturbation on RNA pol II profiles across the genome. RNA pol II profiles at 5ʹ exhibited significant alterations that were com…
Glottal Source Features for Automatic Speech-Based Depression Assessment
2017
Depression is one of the most prominent mental disorders, with an increasing rate that makes it the fourth cause of disability worldwide. The field of automated depression assessment has emerged to aid clinicians in the form of a decision support system. Such a system could assist as a pre-screening tool, or even for monitoring high risk populations. Related work most commonly involves multimodal approaches, typically combining audio and visual signals to identify depression presence and/or severity. The current study explores categorical assessment of depression using audio features alone. Specifically, since depression-related vocal characteristics impact the glottal source signal, we exa…
Autophagy
2021
In 2008, we published the first set of guidelines for standardizing research in autophagy. Since then, this topic has received increasing attention, and many scientists have entered the field. Our knowledge base and relevant new technologies have also been expanding. Thus, it is important to formulate on a regular basis updated guidelines for monitoring autophagy in different organisms. Despite numerous reviews, there continues to be confusion regarding acceptable methods to evaluate autophagy, especially in multicellular eukaryotes. Here, we present a set of guidelines for investigators to select and interpret methods to examine autophagy and related processes, and for reviewers to provide…
La mafia alla sbarra. I processi fascisti a Palermo
2014
2022
Ritorno a Palermo dopo tredici anni trascorsi in Umbria.
The use of violence and organized crime.
Spoken-Word Segmentation and Dyslexia
2002
We used magnetoencephalography to elucidate the cortical activation associated with the segmentation of spoken words in nonreading-impaired and dyslexic adults. The subjects listened to binaurally presented sentences where the sentence-ending words were either semantically appropriate or inappropriate to the preceding sentence context. Half of the inappropriate final words shared two or three initial phonemes with the highly expected semantically appropriate words. Two temporally and functionally distinct response patterns were detected in the superior temporal lobe. The first response peaked at approximately 100 msec in the supratemporal plane and showed no sensitivity to the semantic appr…
