Digital Mosaic Frameworks - an overview

Art often provides valuable hints for technological innovations especially in the field of Image Processing and Computer Graphics. In this paper we survey in a unified framework several methods to transform raster input images into good quality mosaics. For each of the major different approaches in literature the paper reports a short description and a discussion of the most relevant issues. To complete the survey comparisons among the different techniques both in terms of visual quality and computational complexity are provided.
Evolution of the Amygdala in Vertebrates

The main aim of this article is to identify the homologues of the different components of the mammalian amygdala in the cerebral hemispheres of non-mammals using, primarily, a topological/embryological perspective. Thus, we first consider two main divisions of the amygdala of mammals, namely the pallial and subpallial (striatopallidal) amygdala. The pallial amygdala includes derivatives of both the lateral and ventral embryonic pallium that in the adult conform layered, superficial areas usually called cortical amygdala, and deep nuclei that conform the basolateral division of the amygdala plus the amygdalohippocampal area (AHA). Cure kinetics of a cobalt catalysed dicyanate ester monomer in air and argon atmospheres from DSC data

A kinetic analysis of the cyclotrimerisation reaction of a dicyanate ester monomer catalysed by cobalt(II) acetylacetonate and nonylphenol in air and argon atmospheres has been carried out by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Dynamic and isothermal DSC scans as well as the glass transition temperature are the experimental data obtained. From isothermal scans a higher cyanate conversion in air than in argon was obtained. This article examines how the Internet can be used to ease the process of writing by suggesting resources for the planning, writing and revising stages and how they can be used to carry out a writing task. Sequence and context for the Cocina cave neolithic pottery: An approach from social networks analysis

Cocina cave has been considered one of the main sites when explaining the transition from Mesolithic to Neolithic in the Iberian Mediterranean façade. But the current review of its stratigraphy has evidenced important post-depositional disturbances affecting those layers where Neolithic pottery is present. These taphonomic problems question the usefulness of this record in any detailed approach to a potential process of acculturation of the local Mesolithic groups. Tra le numerose innovazioni introdotte nel rito penale dalla c.d. riforma Cartabia, è inclusa la previsione dell'arresto obbligatorio in caso di violazione di misure cautelari e precautelari a tutela della vittima. La modifica, salutata con entusiasmo dall'opinione pubblica, richiede di essere considerata nel contesto della normativa vigente per valutarne la effettiva portata. Il saggio mira a porre in evidenza alcune incongruenze, indicando possibili soluzioni in via interpretativa e de iure condendo.

Dependence of O2 diffusion dynamics on pressure and temperature in silica nanoparticles

An experimental study of the molecular O2 diffusion process in high purity non-porous silica nanoparticles having 50 m2/g BET specific surface and 20 nm average radius was carried out in the temperature range from 127 to 177 °C at O2 pressure in the range from 0.2 to 66 bar. The study was performed by measuring the volume average interstitial O2 concentration by a Raman and photoluminescence technique using a 1,064 nm excitation laser to detect the singlet to triplet emission at 1,272 nm of the molecular oxygen in silica.
