Comparison between catalytic and catalytic photo-assisted propene hydration by using supported heteropolyacid
2012
Abstract Hybrid materials have been prepared by impregnation of the heteropolyacid H 3 PW 12 O 40 on commercial TiO 2 . The polyoxometalates (POM) amount deposited was 15, 30, 50 and 70% with respect to the weight of the TiO 2 support. Moreover two samples containing a POM amount of 15, and 50% with respect to the weight of SiO 2 were also prepared for the sake of comparison. All prepared samples were efficient catalysts for the hydration of propene to 2-propanol in gas–solid regime at atmospheric pressure and at temperatures ranging between 50 and 85 °C. The study carried out on the hybrid TiO 2 based materials evidenced that, as far as the catalytic activity is concerned, exists an optimu…
Sawtooth-wave adiabatic-passage slowing of dysprosium
2018
We report on sawtooth wave adiabatic passage (SWAP) slowing of bosonic and fermionic dysprosium isotopes by using a 136 kHz wide transition at 626 nm. A beam of precooled atoms is further decelerated in one dimension by the SWAP force and the amount of atoms at near zero velocity is measured. We demonstrate that the SWAP slowing can be twice as fast as in a conventional optical molasses operated on the same transition. In addition, we investigate the parameter range for which the SWAP force is efficiently usable in our set-up, and relate the results to the adiabaticity condition. Furthermore, we add losses to the hyperfine ground-state population of fermionic dysprosium during deceleration …
Investigation by raman spectroscopy of the decomposition process of HKUST-1 upon exposure to air
2016
We report an experimental investigation by Raman spectroscopy of the decomposition process of Metal-Organic Framework (MOF) HKUST-1 upon exposure to air moisture (T=300 K, 70% relative humidity). The data collected here are compared with the indications obtained from a model of the process of decomposition of this material proposed in literature. In agreement with that model, the reported Raman measurements indicate that for exposure times longer than 20 days relevant irreversible processes take place, which are related to the occurrence of the hydrolysis of Cu-O bonds. These processes induce small but detectable variations of the peak positions and intensities of the main Raman bands of th…
Efficient distributed average consensus in wireless sensor networks
2020
International audience; Computing the distributed average consensus in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is investigated in this article. This problem, which is both natural and important, plays a significant role in various application fields such as mobile agents and fleet vehicle coordination, network synchronization, distributed voting and decision, load balancing of divisible loads in distributed computing network systems, and so on. By and large, the average consensus' objective is to have all nodes in the network converged to the average value of the initial nodes' measurements based only on local nodes' information states. In this paper, we introduce a fully distributed algorithm to a…
Gaze position reveals impaired attentional shift during visual word recognition in dysfluent readers
2014
Effects reflecting serial within-word processing are frequently found in pseudo- and non-word recognition tasks not only among fluent, but especially among dyslexic readers. However, the time course and locus of these serial within-word processing effects in the cognitive hierarchy (i.e., orthographic, phonological, lexical) have remained elusive. We studied whether a subject’s eye movements during a lexical decision task would provide information about the temporal dynamics of serial within-word processing. We assumed that if there is serial within-word processing proceeding from left to right, items with informative beginnings would attract the gaze position and (micro-)saccadic eye movem…

In this paper, the adaptive attitude tracking the problem of a rigid body is investigated where the input and output are transmitted via a network. To reduce the communication burden in a network, a quantizer is introduced in both uplink and downlink communication channels. An adaptiv…
Institutional Autonomy and the Attractiveness of the European Higher Education Area – Facts or Tokenistic Discourse?
2012
In the discourse of the Bologna Process, the notion of competitiveness as the focal goal of Bologna Process, and university autonomy as one of its founding principles are consistently linked. Autonomy is framed as a precondition of competitiveness, while competitiveness is framed in terms of attractiveness of European higher education and higher education institutions. This paper examines their relationship, discussing whether there is ground for the repeated policy argument of their going hand in hand. Do the more attractive countries have higher autonomy, are the countries with higher autonomy more attractive? Or are these phenomena linked only in the simplified arguments of the policy di…
Effect of Camera Angle on Perception of Trust and Attractiveness
2017
Film theories have long proposed that the vertical camera angle influences how the scene and the character in it are interpreted. An elevated camera (high-angle shot) should diminish the qualities of the actor, whereas a lowered camera (low-angle shot) should elevate the actor in perspective as well as in the viewer’s opinion. We were interested in how this holds up for the impression of trustworthiness and attractiveness that the spectator receives of the actor. We filmed 12 actors in a scenario inspired by a TV show called Split or Steal, which features a one-time version of the prisoner’s dilemma. Subjects had to rate trustworthiness and attractiveness of the actors, and also judge if t…
Preferences, Utility, Choice, and Attractiveness
2016
International audience; The purpose of this chapter is to specify what is meant by preferences, utility, choice, and attractiveness in the context of daily and residential mobility. These notions will be addressed from the angles of economics, geography, and psychology. We are interested in the process of choice leading to a decision and action with spatial consequences, primarily in terms of residential mobility even if factors pertaining to local daily mobility such as modal choice and route choice are evoked.
