Comparison among different rainfall energy harvesting structures

2018

In this paper, an experimental comparison between different rainfall harvesting devices through the study of the electrical rectifying circuit is proposed. In more detail, three harvesting structures are considered: the cantilever, the bridge and the floating circle. Different waveforms were acquired and discussed. The processed data were compared in order to suggest the best choice for the rectifying circuit, from the simplest one to that most frequently endorsed in the technical literature.

Diffusion processes with ultrametric jumps

2007

Abstract In the theory of spin glasses the relaxation processes are modelled by random jumps in ultrametric spaces. One may argue that at the border of glassy and nonglassy phases the processes combining diffusion and jumps may be relevant. Using the Dirichlet form technique we construct a model of diffusion on the real line with jumps on the Cantor set. The jumps preserve the ultrametric feature of a random process on unit ball of 2-adic numbers.

Diameter Control in the Arteriolar Tree by Changes in Post-Capillary Resistance

1997

Presently, the mechanisms underlying local adjustment of organ perfusion to the metabolic needs of the tissue are not well understood. Even though a large number of vasoactive substances is known to be released upon variations in tissue metabolism,24,28 the exact mechanisms of their action are unclear: Because diffusion is a slow and inefficient transport process for covering long distances, arterioles can only sense those changes in concentration and hence in release rate of these mediators with acceptable spatial and temporal resolution that originate from their immediate vicinity. On the other hand, perfusion needs to be regulated such that also the worst supplied tissue regions located …

Gas—liquid chromatographic analyses

1984

Abstract The gas chromatography (GC) of n -alkyl acetates (CH 3 COOR), chloroacetates (CH 2 ClCOOR), dichloroacetates (CHCl 2 COOR) and trichloroacetates (CCl 3 COOR), where the alcohol chain length (R) varied between 1 and 8, and certain of their monochlorinated derivatives, 176 compounds altogether, has been studied on SE-30 and OV-351 glass capillary columns under the same operating conditions. The isomeric monochlorinated esters are eluted in direct order from the 1- chloro to the ω-chloro isomer, the separation of the isomers being complete on OV- 351. On SE-30, however, the peaks of the 6- and 7-chlorooctyl esters are partly overlapped. The separation of the mixtures of odd- and e…

Recent Advances in Sample Preparation for Pesticide Analysis

2012

Much progress has been made in pesticide analysis in the past decade. During this time, hyphenated techniques involving highly efficient separation with sensitive mass spectrometric detection have become the methods of choice. Even with such powerful instrumental techniques, a demanding task in pesticide residue analysis is the development of multiresidue methods for the determination of pesticides in air, water, soil, sediment, biota, and food. This chapter summarizes the analytical characteristics of the different methods of sample preparation for the determination of pesticide residues in a variety of food matrices, and surveys their recent applications in combination with gas chromatogr…

A novel thermoeconomic analysis under dynamic operating conditions for space heating and cooling systems

2019

Abstract Thermoeconomic analysis allows for a deep understanding of the cost formation process within an energy system, providing insights into the possible routes for improvement. Several thermoeconomic approaches are well-established for application in systems with steady operating conditions, such as power plants, while a limited number of applications to air-conditioning systems in buildings have been proposed, due to the difficulties in dealing with very irregular load profiles and unsteady plant operating conditions. This study investigates the potential of Thermoeconomics as a support for decision making in building energy systems, proving its capability to identify trade-offs betwee…

Fiducia, Partecipazione a reti e performance economica

2014
