Annealed Invariance Principle for Random Walks on Random Graphs Generated by Point Processes in R-d

2016

International audience; We consider simple random walks on random graphs embedded in R-d and generated by point processes such as Delaunay triangulations, Gabriel graphs and the creek-crossing graphs. Under suitable assumptions on the point process, we show an annealed invariance principle for these random walks. These results hold for a large variety of point processes including Poisson point processes, Matern cluster and Matern hardcore processes which have respectively clustering and repulsiveness properties. The proof relies on the use the process of the environment seen from the particle. It allows to reconstruct the original process as an additive functional of a Markovian process und…

Constrained differential inclusions with nonlocal initial conditions

2017

International audience; We show existence for the perturbed sweeping process with nonlocal initial conditions under very general hypotheses. Periodic, anti-periodic, mean value and multipoints conditions are included in this study. We give abstract results for differential inclusions with nonlocal initial conditions through bounding functions and tangential conditions. Some applications to differential complementarity systems and to vector hysteresis are given.

Modelling biogeochemical processes in sediments from the north-western Adriatic Sea: response to enhanced particulate organic carbon fluxes

2018

This work presents the result of a study carried out in the north-western Adriatic Sea, by combining two different types of biogeochemical models with field sampling efforts. A longline mussel farm was taken as a local source of perturbation to the natural particulate organic carbon (POC) downward flux. This flux was first quantified by means of a pelagic model of POC deposition coupled to sediment trap data, and its effects on sediment bioirrigation capacity and organic matter (OM) degradation pathways were investigated constraining an early diagenesis model by using original data collected in sediment porewater. The measurements were performed at stations located inside and outside the ar…

Distribution and ecology of the Globigerinoides ruber — Globigerinoides elongatus morphotypes in the Azores region during the late Pleistocene-Holoce…

2018

Abstract Globigerinoides ruber is the dominant taxon in the North Atlantic Subtropical Gyre, nowadays limited to the north by the Azores Current. It is highly sensitive to recent and late Pleistocene Azores Front Current System variability. In this study, we analyse the distribution of five individual morphotypes of the G. ruber – G. elongatus plexus (G. ruber s.s., G. ruber cyclostoma type, G. elongatus, G. elongatus cf.1, G. elongatus pyramidical type) and G. ruber kummerform gr. in a core (ATA13-OF-KT1) collected southwest of the Azores islands and located in a strategical position near the present-day boundary of the Subtropical Gyre/Azores Front Current System (STG/AFCS). Micropaleonto…

An original approach for gas chromatography-olfactometry detection frequency analysis: Application to gin

2012

Abstract Gas Chromatography-Olfactometry (GC-O) is a technique that lies halfway between physicochemical and sensory analysis and involves the perception of volatile flavour compounds, separated by gas chromatography, by the human nose. Of the different GC-O procedures available, detection frequency has been proved to be more rapid and more repeatable, even with an untrained panel. This characteristic regarding the panel is often not considered when dealing with the sensory attributes determined by assessors. An original approach to GC-O using the detection frequency procedure has been developed and tested on two types of gin and made it possible to benefit from sensory data. The panel cons…

Perceptual odor blending is influenced by chemical complexity of odorant mixtures

2008

International audience; Perfumers and flavorists are familiar with odor blending phenomenon and often report that a minimum number of odorants has to be mixed for a good odor blend to arise. Previous studies in humans and animals suggested that a configural process could be involved in the perceptual analysis of mixtures of odorants. It has been proposed that the perceptual blending phenomenon corresponds to a configural perception of odorant mixtures. In the present study, we investigated the influence of chemical complexity on the configural perception of odorant mixtures. Six mixtures including 2 to 6 odorants as well as each unmixed odorant were assessed for their odor quality by a pane…

AN ONTOLOGY-BASED APPROACH TO PROVIDE PERSONNALIZED RECOMMENDATIONS USING A STOCHASTIC ALGORITHM

2011

International audience; The use of personalized recommender systems to assist users in the selection of products is becoming more and more popular and wide-spread. The purpose of a recommender system is to provide the most suitable items from an knowledge base, according the user knowledge, tastes, interests, ... These items are generally proposed as ordered lists. In this article, we propose to combine works from adaptive hypermedia systems, semantic web and combinatory to create a new kind of recommender systems suggesting combinations of items corresponding to the user.
