Task-focused behaviour and mothers' causal attributions in relation to dyslexia : a follow-up from age 8 to age 20
2018
Children with dyslexia tend to find reading stressful. Coping responses, such as task-focused and avoidant behaviours, can help mitigate the stress. Task-focused behaviour is associated with reading development, with others’ at-tributions of success and failure linked to task-focused behaviour. The present study aims to examine whether differences in task-focused behaviour between those with dyslexia and those without dyslexia exist in childhood (age 8) and persist in adolescence (age 15) and early adulthood (age 20). The study also aimed to understand the relationship between mothers’ causal attributions of their 15-year-old adolescents’ school successes and fail-ures and task-focused beha…
The effect of perceived school climate and teacher efficacy in behavior management on job satisfaction and burnout: A longitudinal study
2016
Abstract This study investigated how perceived school climate affects teachers' job satisfaction and burnout and how self-efficacy and collective efficacy in behavior management mediate the effect of perceived school climate on job satisfaction and burnout. The questions were answered using longitudinal questionnaire data collected from 642 Finnish lower secondary school teachers. A structural equation model revealed that school climate had a positive effect, partly mediated by self-efficacy, on job satisfaction. Collective efficacy in student discipline did not explain either job satisfaction or burnout. Self-efficacy in managing behavior had a positive effect on job satisfaction and a neg…
Resultater Helsem…
High-Performance Lead-Acid Batteries Enabled by Pb and PbO2 Nanostructured Electrodes: Effect of Operating Temperature
2021
Lead-acid batteries are now widely used for energy storage, as result of an established and reliable technology. In the last decade, several studies have been carried out to improve the performance of this type of batteries, with the main objective to replace the conventional plates with innovative electrodes with improved stability, increased capacity and a larger active surface. Such studies ultimately aim to improve the kinetics of electrochemical conversion reactions at the electrode-solution interface and to guarantee a good electrical continuity during the repeated charge/discharge cycles. To achieve these objectives, our contribution focuses on the employment of nanostructured electr…
Invisible streams : Process-thinking in Arendt
2016
For Hannah Arendt, some of the most distinctive features of the modern age derived from the adoption of a process-imaginary in science, history, and administration. This article examines Arendt’s work, identifying what it calls the ‘process-frame’ in her criticism of imperialism, economy, and the biologization of politics. It discusses an interpretation in which ‘natality’ presents a completely alternative mode of temporality, a resistance to the process-frame. This interpretation, it is argued, needs to be specified by taking into account that political action both interrupts and starts processes of its own. To confine and overcome the negative effects of process-framing, it is important t…

La destrucció del patrimoni artístic i la seua reconstrucció. Un exercici de microhistòria: el cas de Llíria i la Confraria de la Sang (1936-1949)
2020
The problem of artistic destruction and its reconstruction has been little studied. Using a microhistorical analysis method, we study the town of Lliria (Valencia) and its brotherhood of ?La Sang de Jesucrist? (had a great heritage from the 16th to the 19th centuries), and we also analyze how and why this destruction and reconstruction was generated during the context of the civil war. We use and combine different sources (public of the ?Causa General? and private of the ?Minute Books?) for this research, with the intention of specifying the analysis of this complex process. We also explain social and artistic relationships of these two processes, that help us study the workshops of the mos…

Teologia nadziei w posoborowych obrzędach pogrzebowych
2016
The faith in C hrisfs resurrection had a great impact on the funeral rites of the early Church. For his followers, the day o f death was not considered as the end o f everything but, indeed, it was regarded the day of birth for heaven. The spirit of hope for etemal life characterized the Funeral Rites o f the first Christian communities. Also the Second Vatican Council has ordered to arrange the Rites in such a way that they would express more clearly the Paschal character of death of the contemporary Christians. But in the last decades of the 20th century incredible changes o f the former funeral customs have been noted. It is clearly evident especially in the societies that - embraced by …
The (im)possible success of disadvantaged students. Reflections on education, migration and social change
2019
The paper focuses on the ?unexpected pathways? of successful students with an immigrant background: these biographical routes, that seems socially impossible, raise theoretical issues around the individual-society, actor-structure relationship. Disadvantaged students who succeed represent a sociological challenge in the attempt to understand atypical situations and to identify the institutional processes and the structural opportunities that facilitate them, reducing ethnic inequalities in education. This framework is the starting point of the Su.Per. project (Success in educational pathways of students with immigrant background), based on the collection of written autobiographies of 65 imm…
