influence of raw data analysis for the use of neural networks for wind farm productivity prediction

2011

In the last decade wind energy had a strong growth because of cost effectiveness of the technology and the high remunerative of investments. The increase of wind power penetration in power grids, however, makes necessary the development of instruments for prediction of productivity of a wind farm. This paper presents a study dealing with the capability of neural network to forecast short term production of a wind farm by the correlation of wind and energy production data. Available measures of wind parameters were related to productivity data of a real wind farm. Also wind data not strictly related to the site have been used in order to assess their possible influence on the production. Aft…

Searching for signatures around 1920 MeV of a N-* state of three hadron nature

2009

We provide a series of arguments which support the idea that the peak seen in the gamma p -> K+ Lambda reaction around 1920 MeV should correspond to the recently predicted state of J(P) = 1/2(+) as a bound state of K(K) over bar N with a mixture of alpha(0)(980)N and f(0)(980)N components. At the same time we propose polarization experiments in that reaction as a further test of the prediction, as well as a study of the total cross-section for gamma p -> K(+)K(-)p at energies close to threshold and of d sigma/dM(inv) for invariant masses close to the two-kaon threshold.

Evolution of vertebrate survival circuits

2018

Evolution selects those adaptive features that increase reproductive probabilities and facilitate survival. Analysing the brain circuits mediating risk-avoidance (e.g. defense) and those allowing reward-seeking (motivated) behaviours in different vertebrates leads to several main conclusions. First, circuits mediating risk-avoidance are similar in all studied vertebrates, where they include amygdala homologues located in the posterior half of the cerebral hemispheres, in close relationship with the chemosensory systems. Second, in all vertebrates, reward-seeking behaviours involve the activity of tegmento-striatal dopaminergic pathways, plus other inputs to the ventral striatum, including a…

Promoter Activation in Dhfq Mutants as an Efficient Tool for Specialized Metabolite Production Enabling Direct Bioactivity Testing

2019

Abstract Natural products (NPs) from microorganisms have been important sources for discovering new therapeutic and chemical entities. While their corresponding biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) can be easily identified by gene‐sequence‐similarity‐based bioinformatics strategies, the actual access to these NPs for structure elucidation and bioactivity testing remains difficult. Deletion of the gene encoding the RNA chaperone, Hfq, results in strains losing the production of most NPs. By exchanging the native promoter of a desired BGC against an inducible promoter in Δhfq mutants, almost exclusive production of the corresponding NP from the targeted BGC in Photorhabdus, Xenorhabdus and Pseud…

Selection of microrganism for the mobilization of cellulolityc agricultural biomass for energy production

2012

Selection of microorganisms for the mobilization of cellulolytic agricultural biomass for energy production. R. Di Bonito, D. Taschini, C. Viola, Campi otti C.A. Unit Energy Efficiency in Agriculure, ENEA Casaccia, Roma, Italy The production of biofuels as renewable energy source could significantly reduce the negati ve impact of fossil fuels. However, this activity has resulted in increasing land cultivation specifically with carbohydrate-rich crops for energy production, and resulting shortage of crop production for food . The use of residual agricultural biomass as a substrate for biofuels or biogas production could improve the sustainabi lity of the bio-energy production but sti li requ…
