Challenges in developing in-service teacher training: Lessons learnt from two projects for teachers of Swedish in Finland

Teacher education in Finland is widely respected and of high quality. However, there is a recognised need to develop the educational continuum from pre-service education to in-service training. This article deals with challenges connected to in-service teacher training. Based on two projects, consisting of seven one-month courses for teachers of Swedish in Finland, we reflect on the challenges we encountered during the three-year process. Controlled-by-owner firms, mobility of capital and microeconomic profit rate maximization

When they actively control the firm, owners select the firm that has the best profit rate if the hypothesis of mobility of capital is adopted: controlled-by-owner firms are profit-rate-maximizing when sleeping-owner firms are pure-profit-maximizing. Both types are compared in monopoly, in perfect competition, in classical or in mixed duopoly. Always, controlled-by-owner firms have a lower output than comparable sleeping-owner firms. It only takes a fixed coefficient of equity capital to do that price plays no role for controlled-by-owner firms in perfect competition; in duopoly, it only takes a similar condition plus a linear demand to do that reaction functions vanish.

We utilized institutional logics as a theoretical lens and focused on the logics of IT professionalism, medical professionalism and managerialism. Career Counselling Web is an EU Leonardo project, built on a guidance and counselling web-site developed by Careers Wales with thousands of registered users. Careers Wales in Gwent is acting as advisor and is taking part in the project’s development of new counselling methods.
