Let Me Hack It: Teachers’ Perceptions About ‘Making’ in Education

Making in education is an emergent practice focusing on learners as creators of things in a collaborative fashion while promoting knowledge construction through technology, design, and creative self-expression. Teachers’ (n=33) opinions about making were studied using an online questionnaire after they had attended an online course for professional development about making in education. The results suggest that there exists a group of educators who consider making as a promising approach in education and want to promote its use in schools. peerReviewed

In this article we wish to discuss different normative dilemmas that teachers and psychotherapists meet in their work with the student and the patient. We argue that crucial for a good practice is not the actual choice between normativity and freedom, between generalized or authorized standards and individual dialogue. Rather it is the professional’s continuous reflection on the form and quality of the interactions with the pupil and the patient, and the preservation of the balance between personal ethos and professional responsibilities that best safeguard respect for the other's autonomy and self-determination. La fouille réalisée en 2016 par le service archéologique de Reims Métropole sur le site de Chouilly « La Grifaine » a été l’occasion de compléter nos connaissances sur les hypogées de la Marne. L’examen détaillé de l’état sanitaire des sujets issus de l’hypogée F10 a mis en exergue la récurrence de différents traumatismes et de lésions dégénératives qui plaident en faveur d’une activité spécifique qui pourrait être en lien avec l’extraction du silex. Les indices ostéologiques concernent essentiellement les individus inhumés dans les niveaux les plus récents et témoignent, soit d’une modification du recrutement des individus inhumés, soit d’une évolution des activités au cours du temps. Il contributo presenta la costruzione di una serie di esercizi rivolti a studenti universitari che hanno già delimitato il campo delle loro scelte professionali alle professioni educative e hanno la finalità di promuovere la maturazione di una scelta più specifica dell'ambito educativo al quale rivolgersi. A tal fine è stata scelta la Metodologia ADVP (Activaction du Developpment Vocationnele et Personnel) creata in Canada negli anni 70' del secolo scorso e ampiamente validata in Sicilia.

AbstractSelf-reflection has been shown to enhance professional development in clinical, counselling and educational settings. Recent research found that self-reflection can enhance performance in elite sports. The purpose of this intervention study was two-fold: Firstly, to examine whether a guided reflective diary was effective in enhancing accuracy in elite archery, and secondly, to identify factors facilitating and hindering the usage of the guided reflective diary. Pulling Harriot Out of Newton’s Shadow: How the Norwegian Outsider Johannes Lohne Came to Contribute to Mainstream History of Mathematics

The focus of this paper is on the peculiarities of Lohne ’s “outsider approach” to the historiography of mathematics and physics. The main thesis is that the circumstances of Lohne ’s outsider position both narrowed down and sharpened the focus of his research, but that he succeeded because he joined the then rising tide of archival based and content oriented internalist research in the history of physics and mathematics and because he was supported by scholars such as D.T. Whiteside and J.E. Hofmann , whose connections to the international community were better than his own. The main conclusions are based on Lohne ’s Nachlass in Oslo and on some other archival sources.
