La reputación como ventaja competitiva sostenible

2019

Sensitivity analysis in investment project of biogas plant

2017

The article shows the practical value of biogas as the second generation biofuel. All the projects dealing with biogas are subjected to external risks, such as the change of market condition, customer needs, governmental regulation, etc. In conditions of uncertainty it is necessary for administration to concentrate on decisionmaking. Fluctuations of sales volume, energy resources and raw material prices, etc. should be taken into account. Sensitivity analysis can predict the result of negative external pheno mena. We developed the economic-mathematical model for the analysis of biogas complexes sensitivity. The profitability index as a criterion for the effectiveness of investment projects …

Sources of Revenues and the Potential of NGOs Conducting Sports-Related Mission

2020

The conditions behind the functioning of non-governmental organisations translate into particular specifics of their resources. According to the Resource Dependence Theory, the ability to acquire and retain resources is the key to survival and development of organisations. However, the structure of the sources from which they are generated may influence the way of functioning and the choice of actions taken up by organisations. Therefore, it was assumed that the share of public funding in total revenues does differentiate NGOs. Thus, the aim of the study was to identify the structure of revenues of NGOs which undertake sports-related tasks as well as to recognise the differentiation of feat…

Peer interaction and pioneering organizational form adoption : A tale of the first two for-profit stock exchanges

2021

Building on a historical case study on the first two stock exchanges to adopt the now globally dominant for-profit organizational form, the Stockholm Stock Exchange in 1993 and the Helsinki Stock Exchange in 1995, we argue that interaction among socially proximate peers contributes to pioneering organizational form adoption within an industry, particularly when such forms are introduced by established organizations. Peer interaction can induce a search for technically efficient organizational forms through the sharing of collective experiences, the establishment of collective assumptions, and a joint search for solutions. Together, these factors contribute to the legitimization of novel or…

Profit Sharing the Firm-Size Wage Premium

2017

This study analyzes the relationships among wages, firm size, and profit sharing schemes. We develop a simple theoretical model and explore the relationship empirically using high-quality panel data. The theoretical model shows that the firm-size wage premium decreases in the presence of profit sharing. The empirical results based on rich matched employee-employer data for private sector wage earners in Finland show that the firm-size wage premium is modest, and it becomes negligible when we account for profit sharing and covariates describing assortative matching and monopsony behavior. The analysis suggests that profit sharing schemes embody effects of firm-specific unobservables that rai…

Economics of wage premia and wage rigidity

2017

The focus of this dissertation is on the effects of specific employer characteristics on wages and wage rigidity and how these characteristics enter the wage-setting process. The dissertation includes an introductory chapter and five separate essays. The introduction provides motivation, background on the main keywords and an overview of the thesis. Chapters two and three study how internal references affect wages and wage rigidity from a theoretical perspective. The fourth chapter estimates the effect of firm size on wages in the Finnish labor market. Chapter five develops on the preceding and analyses how profit sharing schemes affect the firm size premium. Chapter six studies how interna…

Ground-Mounted Photovoltaic and Crop Cultivation: A Comparative Analysis

2022

Human civilization depends on energy sources, mainly fossil fuels. An increase in the prices of fossil fuels and their exhaustibility limit economic growth. Carbon dioxide emission causes global environmental problems. Global crises (including COVID-19) have sharpened food and energy supply problems. The decentralized energy supply systems as well as the expedition of the application of renewable energy may solve these challenges. The economic shift to renewable power generation intensifies the competition between food crop production and green energy for land. This paper applied an open-source spatial-based model to quantify the solar power generation (the ground-mounted photovoltaic panel…
