Time-like Proton Form Factors with Initial State Radiation Technique
2022
Electromagnetic form factors are fundamental quantities describing the internal structure of hadrons. They can be measured with scattering processes in the space-like region and annihilation processes in the time-like region. The two regions are connected by crossing symmetry. The measurements of the proton electromagnetic form factors in the time-like region using the initial state radiation technique are reviewed. Recent experimental studies have shown that initial state radiation processes at high luminosity electron-positron colliders can be effectively used to probe the electromagnetic structure of hadrons. The BABAR experiment at the B-factory PEP-II in Stanford and the BESIII experim…
An innovative tailored instructional design for computer programming courses in engineering
2023
Industry 4.0 and 5.0 topics are emerging fields and have seen rising demand recently. There is a critical need, on the other hand, for improved methods of instructing programming languages since a growing lack of student motivation during the pandemic has had a deleterious influence on the education of programmers. In this context, online/hybrid computer programming courses must be addressed with innovative solutions to support the field with well-educated professionals. In this paper, we present a case study to propose an innovative tailored instructional design for the online/hybrid learning environments for programming courses in engineering faculties. To develop the instructional design…
Researching Conditional Probability Problem Solving
2014
The chapter is organized into two parts. In the first one, the main protagonist is the conditional probability problem. We show a theoretical study about conditional probability problems, identifying a particular family of problems we call ternary problems of conditional probability. We define the notions of Level, Category and Type of a problem in order to classify them into sub-families and in order to study them better. We also offer a tool we call trinomial graph that functions as a generative model for this family of problems. We show the syntax of the model that allows researchers and teachers to translate a problem in terms of the trinomial graphs language, and the consequences of th…
Reports and other PDF Documents
2014
Stata users often need to combine text, tables, and figures. The author's command, lpdf, generates reports and other PDF documents. lpdf compiles text stored in global macros, tables stored as dataset tables or LATEX table input files, and figures stored as Stata graphs or PDF figure files. LATEX must be installed, but familiarity with LATEX is not necessary. lpdf performs every step through Stata and with Stata syntax. It generates documents in report or article style and portrait or landscape orientation. The default author name, document title, and date can be modified. Further format options include the font and margin sizes. For each table and figure, the width and layout can be adapt…
A High Level Language for Pyramidal Architectures
1986
In the paper are described the syntax and some implementation features of a high level language for pyramidal architectures called Pyramid B Language (PCL). The language is an extension of the B and include data type, set of instructions and builtin functions oriented to the pyramidal architectures. Some notes on the implementation for the PAPIA machine are also given.
A clustering package for nucleotide sequences using Laplacian Eigenmaps and Gaussian Mixture Model.
2018
International audience; In this article, a new Python package for nucleotide sequences clustering is proposed. This package, freely available on-line, implements a Laplacian eigenmap embedding and a Gaussian Mixture Model for DNA clustering. It takes nucleotide sequences as input, and produces the optimal number of clusters along with a relevant visualization. Despite the fact that we did not optimise the computational speed, our method still performs reasonably well in practice. Our focus was mainly on data analytics and accuracy and as a result, our approach outperforms the state of the art, even in the case of divergent sequences. Furthermore, an a priori knowledge on the number of clust…

HAWK 2.0: A Monte Carlo program for Higgs production in vector-boson fusion and Higgs strahlung at hadron colliders
2019
Abstract The Monte Carlo integrator HAWK provides precision predictions for Higgs production at hadron colliders in vector-boson fusion and Higgs strahlung, i.e. in production processes where the Higgs boson is Attached to WeaK bosons. The fully differential predictions include the full QCD and electroweak next-to-leading-order corrections. Results are computed as integrated cross sections and as binned distributions for important hadron-collider observables. Title of program: HAWK, version 2.0 Catalogue Id: AEWT_v1_0 Nature of problem Precision calculation of cross sections and differential distributions for Higgs-boson production in vector-boson fusion and Higgs strahlung at the LHC as de…
AMYR 2: A new version of a computer program for pair potential calculation of molecular associations
2019
Abstract AMYR is a computer program for the calculation of molecular associations using Fraga's pairwise atom - atom potential. The interaction energy is evaluated through a 1/R expansion. The electrostatic energy is calculated through either the one-centre-per atom or the three-centres-per atom model by Hunter and Sanders. A pairwise dispersion energy term is included in the potential and corrected by a damping function. The program carries out energy minimizations through variable metric methods. Th... Title of program: AMYR 2 Catalogue Id: ADIW_v1_0 Nature of problem The program determines the optimum separation and relative orientation of two interacting molecular systems through a mini…
