Pronostic role of CD4 T lymphocyte infiltrates in breast cancers
2017
Tumor escape to immune system surveillance is one of the reasons why human cancer achieves to grow. In my research team, we aim to study CD4 T cell populations and their functions in the context of cancer. My work was precisely to determine if the results obtained in mice could be transposable in humans, in the context of breast cancer. . We first unraveled that tumor infiltrating Th17 cells could inhibit effector and cytotoxic functions of Th1 and CD8 T cells in an ectonucleotidase-dependent manner. Finally, we showed that high tumor infiltration in IL-17+ cells were significantly associated with a worse clinical prognosis for breast cancer patients. Then, we aim to prevent Th17 cell diffe…
Influence des facteurs socio-économiques et géographiques sur l'incidence, l'accès aux soins et la survie des femmes atteintes d'un cancer du sein
2012
In developed countries, breast cancer is currently the leading cancer in women in terms of incidence and mortality (standardized rate of 101.5 and 17.7 per 100,000 person-years in 2005, respectively). Many risk factors and prognostic factors have been studied and are well known. Research is under way with regard to every step in the development of breast cancer, but the impact of socio-economic and geographic factors, at the individual and environmental level with regard to the disease have never been studied in France. The general aim of this work was to explore the impact of these factors in different ways to build on our knowledge and to develop practical applications in the primary, seco…
Research of prognostic biomarkers in Tunisian patients with bladder cancer
2016
Bladder cancer is the first most common urogenital cancer in men in Tunisia, with a high recurrence rate. Patients with muscle-invasive disease develop metastasis. The need for expensive continuous surveillance. In this thesis we try to search some candidate biomarkers. Their use for cancer staging and personalization of therapy at the time of diagnosis in order to identify a better treatment could improve patient care. The aim of this first part of our study was to investigate the clinical significance of three immune cell-related transcription factors, T-bet, GATA-3 and Bcl-6 in Tunisian patients with bladder cancer. We found that T-bet level was significantly higher in invasive carcinoma…
Prognosis of resected intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma
2017
Introduction. Complete resection stands as the only curative option for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (IHCC). Still, prognosis remains poor after resection due to a recurrence rate over 60% leading to actual 5-year survival rates below 20%. Reliable prognostic estimation and better understanding of tumor biology would be of interest for improving IHCC prognosis.Methods. Using clinical and biological data from two large cohort of resected IHCC (MSKCC, n=189 and AFC, n=522), three objectives have been explored. First, assessing the performances of different published prognostic models. Second, defining the reliability of preoperative prognostic estimation using imaging, tumoral genomic prof…
