On-line vapor-phase generation combined with Fourier transform infrared spectrometry

2008

We present a critical review of on-line vapor-phase generation combined with Fourier transform infrared spectrometry for detection. We discuss different experimental approaches developed for generating the vapor phase based on different principles (e.g., thermal volatilization, acid-base, redox reaction and covalent hydride generation). Using examples of applications, we try to demonstrate the analytical potential of on-line vapor-phase generation in vibrational spectrometry in order to improve the selectivity and the sensitivity of the measurement step and to make environmentally-friendly procedures available for problem solving in the analytical laboratory. We pay special attention to int…

Artificial neural network for quantitative determination of total protein in yogurt by infrared spectrometry

2009

Abstract A method has been introduced for quantitative determination of protein content in yogurt samples based on the characteristic absorbance of protein in 1800–1500 cm− 1 spectral region by mid-FTIR spectroscopy and chemometrics. Successive Projection Algorithm (SPA) wavelength selection procedure, coupled with feed forward Back-Propagation Artificial Neural Network (BP-ANN) model was the benefited chemometric technique. Relative Error of Prediction (REP) in BP-ANN and SPA-BP-ANN methods for training set was 7.25 and 3.70 respectively. Considering the complexity of the sample, the ANN model was found to be reliable, while the proposed method is rapid and simple, without any sample prepa…

SMART: Unique splitting-while-merging framework for gene clustering

2014

Successful clustering algorithms are highly dependent on parameter settings. The clustering performance degrades significantly unless parameters are properly set, and yet, it is difficult to set these parameters a priori. To address this issue, in this paper, we propose a unique splitting-while-merging clustering framework, named "splitting merging awareness tactics" (SMART), which does not require any a priori knowledge of either the number …

Structural clustering of millions of molecular graphs

2014

We propose an algorithm for clustering very large molecular graph databases according to scaffolds (i.e., large structural overlaps) that are common between cluster members. Our approach first partitions the original dataset into several smaller datasets using a greedy clustering approach named APreClus based on dynamic seed clustering. APreClus is an online and instance incremental clustering algorithm delaying the final cluster assignment of an instance until one of the so-called pending clusters the instance belongs to has reached significant size and is converted to a fixed cluster. Once a cluster is fixed, APreClus recalculates the cluster centers, which are used as representatives for…

Modelling the Complex Dynamics of Public Opinion Propagation in Micro-Blogging.

2018

The purpose of this paper is to attempt to analyze the propagation of public opinion in micro-blogging. We proposed a Micro-blogging read-post model based on a well-known diffusion model and presented its system of equations. We carried out a global qualitative analysis of the model with latent and constant recruitment, then studied the existence and stability of the public opinion vanishing and prevailing equilibrium points. An empirical study of the model was conducted using data automatically collected from a typical case on Sina Weibo, a microblogging platform with the largest number of registered users and active users in China. Simulation results showed that our model can fit data in …

Doppler Shift Characterization of Wideband Mobile Radio Channels

2019

The prevailing approach for characterizing the Doppler shift (DS) of mobile radio channels assumes the transmission of an unmodulated carrier. This consideration is valid for the analysis of narrowband channels, but its pertinence is questionable in regards to the modeling of wideband channels. In this correspondence, we redefine the DS from a time-frequency analysis perspective that does not depend on the aforementioned assumption. We systematically demonstrate that the DS can be characterized by the instantaneous frequency of the channel transfer function. This generic definition makes evident a fundamental aspect of the DS that is seldom acknowledged, namely, the DS is a frequency-varyin…

Performance of power control in inter-cell interference coordination for frequency reuse

2010

To mitigate inter-cell interference in 3G evolution systems, a novel inter-cell interference coordination scheme called soft fractional frequency reuse is proposed in this article, which enables to improve the data rate in cell-edge. On this basis, an inter-cell power control is presented for the inter-cell interference coordination, and the inter-cell balanced signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) among users is established for power allocation, which enables mitigation of inter-cell interference. Especially, the power control is based on a novel exponential kernel equation at higher convergence speed than the traditional arithmetic kernel equations. Numerical results show that th…

Downlink radio resource allocation for coordinated cellular OFDMA networks

2010

Base station coordination is considered as a promising technique to mitigate inter-cell interference and improve the cell-edge performance in cellular orthogonal frequency division multiple-access (OFDMA) networks. The problem to design an efficient radio resource allocation scheme for coordinated cellular OFDMA networks incorporating base station coordination has been only partially investigated. In this contribution, a novel radio resource allocation algorithm with universal frequency reuse is proposed to support base station coordinated transmission. Firstly, with the assumption of global coordination between all base station sectors in the network, a coordinated subchannel assignment al…
