‘It’s not a part of me, but it is what it is’: the struggle of becoming en-wheeled after spinal cord injury

Many people who experience spinal cord injury become long-term wheelchair users. This article addresses the process of becoming en-wheeled through the case example of a disabled man called Patrick.An intrinsic case study informed by posthumanist developments was used. Within this design, Patrick and his manual wheelchair were the entangled participants of the inquiry.Interviews and fieldwork observation with Patrick were conducted. Qualitative data were analysed using the posthumanist notion of 'assemblages'.The results illuminate Patrick's struggle of negotiating a new embodied selfhood that includes the wheelchair. Striving for greater economic growth, requires a great understanding of the underlying factors. One of the factors may be the intellectual property rights and the level of its protection. Whether it is and how does it behave are the questions answered by this thesis. The theoretical framework comes mainly from the Schumpeterian growth model. The empirical methodology uses GMM in order to obtain reliable results. Justice Perceptions as Predictors of Customer Satisfaction: The Impact of Distributive, Procedural, and Interactional Justice1

This article attempts to extend prior research by testing the effects of justice components (distributive, procedural, and interactional) on customer satisfaction beyond the expectancy disconfirmation paradigm. To this end, two separate field survey studies were conducted. A total of 568 customers were surveyed in 38 hotels and 40 restaurants. The results showed that distributive justice was critical in predicting customer satisfaction, while the influence of procedural and interactional justice was secondary. Marked systems and circular splicing

Splicing systems are generative devices of formal languages, introduced by Head in 1987 to model biological phenomena on linear and circular DNA molecules. In this paper we introduce a special class of finite circular splicing systems named marked systems. We prove that a marked system S generates a regular circular language if and only if S satisfies a special (decidable) property. As a consequence, we show that we can decide whether a regular circular language is generated by a marked system and we characterize the structure of these regular circular languages.
A comparison of compatible, finite, and inductive graph properties

Abstract In the theory of hyperedge-replacement grammars and languages, one encounters three types of graph properties that play an important role in proving decidability and structural results. The three types are called compatible, finite, and inductive graph properties. All three of them cover graph properties that are well-behaved with respect to certain operations on hypergraphs. In this paper, we show that the three notions are essentially equivalent. Consequently, three lines of investigation in the theory of hyperedge replacement - so far separated - merge into one.

AbstractA subgroup A of a group G has the strong cover-avoidance property in G, or A is a strong CAP-subgroup of G, if A either covers or avoids every chief factor of every subgroup of G containing A. The main aim of the present paper is to analyse the impact of the strong cover and avoidance property of the members of some relevant families of subgroups on the structure of a group.
Failure of topological rigidity results for the measure contraction property

We give two examples of metric measure spaces satisfying the measure contraction property MCP(K,N) but having different topological dimensions at different regions of the space. The first one satisfies MCP(0,3) and contains a subset isometric to $\mathbb{R}$, but does not topologically split. The second space satisfies MCP(2,3) and has diameter $\pi$, which is the maximal possible diameter for a space satisfying MCP(N-1,N), but is not a topological spherical suspension. The latter example gives an answer to a question by Ohta.
Henstock–Kurzweil–Pettis integrability of compact valued multifunctions with values in an arbitrary Banach space

Abstract The aim of this paper is to describe Henstock–Kurzweil–Pettis (HKP) integrable compact valued multifunctions. Such characterizations are known in case of functions (see Di Piazza and Musial (2006) [16] ). It is also known (see Di Piazza and Musial (2010) [19] ) that each HKP-integrable compact valued multifunction can be represented as a sum of a Pettis integrable multifunction and of an HKP-integrable function. Invoking to that decomposition, we present a pure topological characterization of integrability.
