Despite the importance of patients’ psychological well-being in their own recovery from illness, few studies examine these issues while the patient is still in ICU. This study analyzes the psychological distress of 71 ICU patients and the potential risk/protective factors for such distress. Patients showed moderate anxiety and depression although in a significant percentage clinical symptomatology was observed. More than halve of the patients revealed an intermediate general stress level and the most important stressor was having pain. A big question in behavioural ecology is what drives diversity of colour signals. The dataset covers the testing of the context-dependent predator selection on prey coloration. In the first experiment, detectability of artificial visual stimuli to blue tits (Cyanistes caeruleus) was tested by manipulating stimulus luminance and chromatic context of the background. In the second experiment, the effect of two light environments on the survival of aposematic, colour polymorphic wood tiger moth (Arctia plantaginis) was tested. Studied the antimicrobial activity of secondary extract from oregano herbs waste (Origanum vulgare)against 7 standard test strains of microrganisms. Minimum bactericidal concentration of the extract to Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 P-is 3.125-6.25 mg/ml and 6.25-12.5 mg/ml to gram-negative bacteria and Candida albicans ATCC 10231.Total antioxidant activity determined by DPPH, secondary extract at a concentration of 400 ug/ml was 92 %. The tested extract had photoprotective activity. Obtained results confirm the perspective of using waste of oregano herbs for making extracts and creation on their basis of pharmaceuticals, veterinary drugs and cosmetics.
