Proton Inelastic Scattering onNi56in Inverse Kinematics
1994
Inelastic proton scattering to the first excited ${2}^{+}$ state of the doubly magic $^{56}\mathrm{Ni}$ nucleus was investigated in inverse kinematics, using a secondary beam of radioactive $^{56}\mathrm{Ni}$ nuclei. At an incident energy of 101 MeV/nucleon, a value $B(E2,{0}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{2}^{+})=600\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}120 {e}^{2}$ ${\mathrm{fm}}^{4}$ was measured. This result completes the set of experimental data for the first excited ${2}^{+}$ states in the $1f\ensuremath{-}2p$ shell with a closed shell of neutrons or protons. These data are compared to recent shell-model calculations.
Production and Characterization of the $^{7}$H Resonance
2006
Détecteur MAYA; International audience; The 7H resonance was produced via one-proton transfer reaction between a 8He beam at 15.4A MeV and a 12C gas target. The experimental setup was based on the active-target MAYA which allowed a complete reconstruction of the reaction kinematics. The characterization of the identified 7H events resulted in a resonance energy of 600 keV above the 3H+4n threshold and a resonance width of 100 keV. This study represents the first unambiguous proof of the existence of the 7H state.
Measurement of the Recoil Polarization in thep(e→,e′p→)π0Reaction at theΔ(1232)Resonance
2001
The recoil proton polarization has been measured in the $p(\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{e}{,e}^{\ensuremath{'}}\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{p}){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ reaction in parallel kinematics around $W\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}1232\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\mathrm{MeV}$, ${Q}^{2}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}0.121\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}(\mathrm{GeV}/c{)}^{2}$, and $\ensuremath{\epsilon}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}0.718$ using the polarized cw electron beam of the Mainz Microtron. All three proton polarization components, ${P}_{x}/{P}_{e}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}(\ensuremath{-…
Production of charged pions, kaons, and (anti-)protons in Pb-Pb and inelastic pp collisions at sNN=5.02 TeV
2020
Mid-rapidity production of $\pi^{\pm}$, $\rm{K}^{\pm}$ and ($\bar{\rm{p}}$)p measured by the ALICE experiment at the LHC, in Pb-Pb and inelastic pp collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}}$ = 5.02 TeV, is presented. The invariant yields are measured over a wide transverse momentum ($p_{\rm{T}}$) range from hundreds of MeV/$c$ up to 20 GeV/$c$. The results in Pb-Pb collisions are presented as a function of the collision centrality, in the range 0$-$90%. The comparison of the $p_{\rm{T}}$-integrated particle ratios, i.e. proton-to-pion (p/$\pi$) and kaon-to-pion (K/$\pi$) ratios, with similar measurements in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}}$ = 2.76 TeV show no significant energy dependence. B…
Reduced uncertainty of the axial γZ-box diagram correction to the proton’s weak charge
2019
We present the fully up-to-date calculation of the γZ-box correction which needs to be taken into account to determine the weak mixing angle at low energies from parity-violating electron proton scattering. We make use of neutrino and antineutrino inclusive scattering data to predict the parity-violating structure function F3γZ by isospin symmetry. Our new analysis confirms previous results for the axial contribution to the γZ-box graph and reduces the uncertainty by a factor of 2. In addition, we note that the presence of parity-violating photon-hadron interactions induces an additional contribution via F3γγ. Using experimental and theoretical constraints on the nucleon anapole moment we a…
Measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry ofΛandΛ¯production inpp¯collisions
2016
We study $\Lambda$ and $\bar{\Lambda}$ production asymmetries in $p \bar{p} \rightarrow \Lambda (\bar{\Lambda}) X$, $p \bar{p} \rightarrow J/\psi \Lambda (\bar{\Lambda}) X$, and $p \bar{p} \rightarrow \mu^\pm \Lambda (\bar{\Lambda}) X$ events recorded by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider at $\sqrt{s} = 1.96$ TeV. We find an excess of $\Lambda$'s ($\bar{\Lambda}$'s) produced in the proton (antiproton) direction. This forward-backward asymmetry is measured as a function of rapidity. We confirm that the $\bar{\Lambda}/\Lambda$ production ratio, measured by several experiments with various targets and a wide range of energies, is a universal function of "rapidity loss", i.e., th…
Antiproton-proton annihilation at rest into two-body final states
1993
We report measurements of branching ratios for production of a series of two meson final states in $$\bar p$$ p annihilations at rest in liquid hydrogen. We find: $$\begin{gathered} BR(\bar pp \to \pi ^ + \pi ^ - ) = (3.07 \pm 0.13) \cdot 10^{ - 3} \hfill \\ BR(\bar pp \to K^ + K^ - ) = (0.99 \pm 0.05) \cdot 10^{ - 3} \hfill \\ BR(\bar pp \to \pi ^0 \pi ^0 ) = (6.93 \pm 0.43) \cdot 10^{ - 4} \hfill \\ BR(\bar pp \to \pi ^0 \eta ) = (2.12 \pm 0.12) \cdot 10^{ - 4} \hfill \\ BR(\bar pp \to \pi ^0 \omega ) = (5.73 \pm 0.47) \cdot 10^{ - 3} \hfill \\ BR(\bar pp \to \pi ^0 \eta ') = (1.23 \pm 0.13) \cdot 10^{ - 4} \hfill \\ BR(\bar pp \to \eta \eta ) = (1.64 \pm 0.10) \cdot 10^{ - 4} \hfill \\ B…
Antiproton-proton annihilation in-flight
1994
This is an overview of the preliminary results of\(\bar pp\) annihilation at incident\(\bar p\) momenta of 600, 1200 and 1940 MeV/c(*). The data was taken at LEAR with the Crystal Barrel Detector (E. Akeret al.:Nucl. Instrum. Methods A,321, 108 (1992)). In the two pseudoscalar final states seven different channels are observable and their angular distributions are measured. They are compared to older data, if existent, and are found to be equal within the experimental errors. In the three-meson final states, an overview of the already examined final states is given. Striking signals in the Dalitz plots and invariant-mass projections for a set of final states are observed. In the final state…
Direct limits on the interaction of antiprotons with axion-like dark matter
2019
Astrophysical observations indicate that there is roughly five times more dark matter in the Universe than ordinary baryonic matter, with an even larger amount of the Universe's energy content due to dark energy. So far, the microscopic properties of these dark components have remained shrouded in mystery. In addition, even the five percent of ordinary matter in our Universe has yet to be understood, since the Standard Model of particle physics lacks any consistent explanation for the predominance of matter over antimatter. Inspired by these central problems of modern physics, we present here a direct search for interactions of antimatter with dark matter, and place direct constraints on th…
Predictions of covariant chiral perturbation theory for nucleon polarisabilities and polarised Compton scattering
2015
We update the predictions of the SU(2) baryon chiral perturbation theory for the dipole polarisabilities of the proton, $\{\alpha_{E1},\,\beta_{M1}\}_p=\{11.2(0.7),\,3.9(0.7)\}\times10^{-4}$fm$^3$, and obtain the corresponding predictions for the quadrupole, dispersive, and spin polarisabilities: $\{\alpha_{E2},\,\beta_{M2}\}_p=\{17.3(3.9),\,-15.5(3.5)\}\times10^{-4}$fm$^5$, $\{\alpha_{E1\nu},\,\beta_{M1\nu}\}_p=\{-1.3(1.0),\,7.1(2.5)\}\times10^{-4}$fm$^5$, and $\{\gamma_{E1E1},\,\gamma_{M1M1},\,\gamma_{E1M2},\,\gamma_{M1E2}\}_p=\{-3.3(0.8),\,2.9(1.5),\,0.2(0.2),\,1.1(0.3)\}\times10^{-4}$fm$^4$. The results for the scalar polarisabilities are in significant disagreement with semi-empirical …
