We applied the assimilation of problematic experiences sequence (APES) to a six-year-old girl’s processing of traumatic experiences involving violence and death in play therapy. We analyzed the post-session notes from the first 34 sessions of a much longer treatment, during which the girl repeatedly enacted a drama we called the cottage play, involving characters assumed by the child and characters assigned to the therapist. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli kuvata ammatillisen minäkuvan muutosta ongelmallisten kokemusten assimilaatioprosessina psykoterapiassa. Kyseessä oli tapaustutkimus 34-vuotiaan naisopettajan terapiasta. Aineisto koostui nauhoitetuista ja litteroiduista terapiaistunnoista. Ammatillisen minäkuvan muutosta kuvattiin assimilaatioanalyysilla, ja terapian tuloksellisuutta mitattiin määrällisillä itsearviointimittareilla. A feminist-informed reading combined with a discursive psychological approach was applied in three studies on positioning in therapeutic conversations. This reading focused on gendered positioning, gendered power and cultural discourses. Teoreettisen tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on kartoittaa musiikkiterapeutin narsimin haasteita. Taustalla on Kimmo Lehtosen esittämä ajatus kolminkertaisesta narsimin haasteesta. Hänen mukaansa ammatissamme yhdistyy ihmisen, terapeutin sekä muusikon narsismi. Yhtenä tavoitteena on ollut tutkia tuota väitettä ja löytää lisäargumentteja puolesta ja vastaan. Katseet suuntautuivat alkuvaiheessa muihin läheisiin ammattiryhmiin sillä oman alan ammattikirjallisuudesta ei tahtonut löytyä mainintoja musiikkiterapeutin narsismista.
