Planning Punic cities: Geophysical prospection and the built environment at Motya, Sicily

The urban plan of ancient Motya on the Isola di San Pantaleo on the west coast of Sicily and its relationship to developments in Phoenician and Punic societies have been investigated since the early 1960s. Data from geophysical surveys in the north-eastern quadrant of Motya show the regular organisation of urban insulae framed by two broad roads. These results, combined with data from previous nearby excavations, improve the modelling of Motya's layout, and contribute to the wider discussion of Phoenician/Punic and broader Mediterranean urban traditions between the sixth and fourth centuries BC.

Se presenta un estudio tipológico, ceramológico y cuantitativo del conjunto anfórico procedente de la intervención realizada en la calle Beatas-esquina Ramón Franquelo en 1997. El yacimiento posee evidencias de ocupación durante el Alto y Bajo Imperio, pero sin duda, destaca la fase tardopúnica o romano-republicana, en la que junto a la presencia de un espacio funerario, se registraron depósitos con una gran cantidad de material anfórico, que hemos datado en torno al segundo cuarto del s. I a.C. International audience; The objective of this study was to evaluate the biological activities of the major phytosterols present in argan oil (AO) and in cactus seed oil (CSO) in BV2 microglial cells. Accordingly, we first determined the sterol composition of AO and CSO, showing the presence of Schottenol and Spinasterol as major sterols in AO. While in CSO, in addition to these two sterols, we found mainly another sterol, the Sitosterol. The chemical synthesis of Schottenol and Spinasterol was performed. Irradiation induced Germanium Lone Pair Centers in Ge-doped Sol-gel SiO2: luminescence lifetime and temperature dependence

We studied the temperature dependence of the emission profile and of the lifetime, measured at 4.3 eV, related to the germanium lone pair centers (GLPC) induced by gamma ray at 5 MGy in a Ge-doped silica sample and in an analogous sample irradiated at 10 MGy, in which by a successive thermal treatment up to 415 °C the induced GLPC has been modified (named residual GLPC in the following). The measurements were recorded in the temperature range 10-300 K using an excitation of ∼5.2 eV. The problem of global exponential stability in mean square of delayed Markovian jump fuzzy cellular neural networks (DMJFCNNs) with generally uncertain transition rates (GUTRs) is investigated in this paper. In this GUTR neural network model, each transition rate can be completely unknown or only its estimate value is known. This new uncertain model is more general than the existing ones. By constructing suitable Lyapunov functionals, several sufficient conditions on the exponential stability in mean square of its equilibrium solution are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Pētījuma mērķis bija izveidot Autovadītāju psiholoģiskā skatpunkta skalu un veikt tās pirmreizējās validitātes pārbaudes. Pētījuma rezultātā izveidota Autovadītāju psiholoģiskā skatpunkta skala ar četrām apakšskalām, kas raksturo autovadītāju psiholoģiskā skatpunkta dimensijas – piesardzību, sadarbību, telpu un spriešanu. Pētījumā identificēti turpmākie skalas pilnveidošanas un izstrādes virzieni. Pētījumā piedalījās 648 autovadītāji.
