Promotion of school engagement through dialogic teaching practices in the context of a teacher professional development programme
2021
This study was conducted in the context of a teacher professional development programme that aimed to improve dialogic teaching in the classroom, and it describes the programme and examines the change in teachers' dialogic teaching practices and pupils' classroom engagement during the programme. Data on pupils' school engagement were collected using classroom video recordings and students' self-ratings at the end of the lesson including dialogic teaching practices. Functional analysis of broadly tuned odorant receptors expressed in the mouse septal organ through patch-clamp recordings in an intact preparation an…
2010
The septal organ (SO) is a small island of olfactory epithelium located at the ventral base of the nasal septum. SO neurons express identified odorant receptors, but its function remains unknown. Using perforated patch clamp recordings, we investigated the response properties of SO neurons in the intact epithelium of mice to a panel of 45 odorants or mixtures. Out of 328 neurons tested, approximately 70% responded to odor stimulation. Among the responsive neurons, 72.5 % responded to multiple odorants. Responding neurons were tested with increasing concentrations of 3 odorants (octanoic acid, (+) camphor, amylacetate) and a mixture (fox urine). Dose-response curves show nanomolar threshold …

Software Complexity and Organization of Firms’ Offshoring Activities
2017
How does software complexity shape software providers’ offshoring tasks, and how do such firms organize their offshoring activity? These questions are important, since the global software development market is growing rapidly, offering new opportunities for software managers and entrepreneurs to distribute their activities geographically. Based on a multi-site case study of 12 software firms, we study connections between software complexity and the offshoring strategies selected. Our findings suggest that software firms select a variety of organizational structures for their offshoring activity, and that the selection is shaped by the complexity of the software in question. peerReviewed
Residential mobility as a cause and consequence of vulnerability among the elderly in Reunion Island
2021
