The molecular structures of triisopropoxystibane, Sb((OPr)-Pr-i)(3), and chlorodiisopropoxystibane, SbCl((OPr)-Pr-i)(2), were determined in the solid state by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Abstract A complete series of diphenyl and mixed methyl/chlorine/bromine/iodinephenyl substituted oxadithia- and trithiastannocanes has been prepared by reactions between the respective disodium dithiolates and tin dihalides. The 13C NMR chemical shifts of these compounds and the coupling constants J(119Sn13C) are dependent upon the magnetic anisotropy of the substituents and the bond angles at the tin atom. The crystal structure of 2,2-diphenyl-1,3,6-trithia-2-stannocane has been determined and refined to R = 0.039. Large-animal models offer several advantages in the study of cerebral ischaemia: easier control of physiological variables, easier neuropathological evaluation, etc. In the present study we have taken advantage of the unique cerebrovascular anatomy of the goat to reproduce a model of reversible, incomplete, global cerebral ischaemia in a large-sized animal species, in which the effects of successive manoeuvres to stop and re-start cerebral blood flow can be recorded continuously. Neocortical Layer 6B as a Remnant of the Subplate - A Morphological Comparison.

The fate of the subplate (SP) is still a matter of debate. The SP and layer 6 (which is ontogenetically the oldest and innermost neocortical lamina) develop coincidentally. Yet, the function of sublamina 6B is largely unknown. It has been suggested that it consists partly of neurons from the transient SP, however, experimental evidence for this hypothesis is still missing. Neurons of the dentate molecular layer in the rabbit hippocampus.

The molecular layer of the dentate gyrus appears as the main entrance gate for information into the hippocampus, i.e., where the perforant path axons from the entorhinal cortex synapse onto the spines and dendrites of granule cells. A few dispersed neuronal somata appear intermingled in between and probably control the flow of information in this area. Mapping of phenytoin-inducible cytochrome P450 immunoreactivity in the mouse central nervous system

Abstract The distribution of phenytoin-inducible cytochrome P450 in non-treated mouse brain and spinal cord was analysed immunohistochemically using polyclonal antibodies against phenytoin-induced mouse cerebral microsomal P450. This P450 protein was proved in Ouchterlony [Volk B. et al. (1988) Neurosci. Lett. 84 , 219–224], Western blot, and immunohistochemical analyses to be reactive to the specific antibodies and an IgG fraction raised against phenobarbital-induced rat liver microsomal P450IIB1. The Adhesion family of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) includes 33 receptors and is the second largest GPCR family. Most of these proteins are still orphans and fairly little is known of their tissue distribution and evolutionary context. We report the evolutionary history of the Adhesion family protein GPR123 as well as mapping of GPR123 mRNA expression in mouse and rat using in situ hybridization and real-time PCR, respectively. The course of corticofacial projections in the human brainstem.

Transcranial magnetic stimulation was used to investigate the corticofacial projections in 53 patients with (n = 28) and without (n = 25) central facial paresis due to unifocal ischaemic lesions at different brainstem levels. Lesion topography documented by MRI studies was correlated with the electrophysiological findings. In the majority of patients the corticofacial fibres travel within the ventromedial base of the pons and cross the midline at the level of the facial nucleus.
