Co2+ Translocation in a Terpyridine−Cyclam Ditopic Receptor
2001
The coordination behaviour of the ditopic receptor of 1-[p-(2,2′:6′,2′′-terpyrid-4′-yl)tolyl]-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane (L1) towards Co2+ in acetonitrile/water (70:30, v/v) has been investigated. At acidic pH values, the L1−H+−Co2+ system shows an oxidation wave at 150 mV vs. SCE, characteristic of Co2+ in a bis(terpyridine) environment. Upon addition of OH−, a reduction in the intensity of the wave at 150 mV is observed and a new oxidation wave appears at 1.30 V. This new wave is close to that found for [Co(cyclam)]2+ under similar working conditions. The electrochemical data thus suggest that there is a pH-controlled translocation of the Co2+ ion from the bis(terpyridine) to the c…
Synthesis and Spectroscopic Characterisation ofbis-Complexes of Cobalt(II), Nickel(II) and Copper(II) with N,N,N′N′-Tetraethylpyridinecarboxamide
1994
Abstract Bis-complexes of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) with tedpa (N,N,N′N′-tetraethyl-pyridinedicarboxamide) having the general formula [M(tedpa)2]X2 (X = ClO4, PF6) have been synthesized and characterised by i.r., electronic and e.p.r. spectra. The spectroscopic results suggest that the tedpa acts in these compounds as tridentate ligand through two oxygen atoms and a nitrogen (from the pyridine ring) atom. A distorted octahedral environment (MN2O4 chromophores) for the metal atoms is inferred from the spectroscopic data.
Anion template effect and the polymerization degree
2005
Two 2D (M1 and M2) and one 1D (M3) metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) have been prepared from pyridine functionalized tetradentate ligand tetrakis(nicotinoxymethyl)methane TNM with silver tetrafluoroborate, nickel chloride, and copper hexafluorophosphate. M1 manifests a previously unpresented mode of 4,4 threefold parallel interpenetration for 2D MOFs. Large channels (vdW diameter 9.4 Å) through eclipsed 2D layers of M2 were observed. While the open space percentage in the noninterpenetrated M2 was 38.0 %, the triple interpenetration of the sheets of M1 reduced the void to 10.8 %. With the same ligand and a similar, weakly coordinating anion as that in M1, the structure M3 was rendered one‐dim…
Solvent-dependent formation of Os(0) complexes by electrochemical reduction of [Os(CO)(2,2'-bipyridine)(L)Cl2]; L = Cl(-), PrCN.
2014
Cyclic voltammetry and ultraviolet-visible/infrared (UV-vis/IR) spectroelectrochemistry were used to study the cathodic electrochemical behavior of the osmium complexes mer-[Os(III)(CO) (bpy)Cl3] (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine) and trans(Cl)-[Os(II)(CO) (PrCN)(bpy)Cl2] at variable temperature in different solvents (tetrahydrofuran (THF), butyronitrile (PrCN), acetonitrile (MeCN)) and electrolytes (Bu4NPF6, Bu4NCl). The precursors can be reduced to mer-[Os(II)(CO) (bpy(•-))Cl3](2-) and trans(Cl)-[Os(II)(CO)(PrCN) (bpy(•-))Cl2](-), respectively, which react rapidly at room temperature, losing the chloride ligands and forming Os(0) species. mer-[Os(III)(CO) (bpy)Cl3] is reduced in THF to give ultimate…
Pilot study on the combination of an organophosphate-based insecticide paint and pyrethroid-treated long lasting nets against pyrethroid resistant ma…
2015
International audience; A pilot study to test the efficacy of combining an organophosphate-based insecticide paint and pyrethroid-treated Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Nets (LLINs) against pyrethroid-resistant malaria vector mosquitoes was performed in a real village setting in Burkina Faso. Paint Inesfly 5A IGR™, comprised of two organophosphates (OPs) and an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR), was tested in combination with pyrethroid-treated LLINs. Efficacy was assessed in terms of mortality for 12 months using Early Morning Collections of malaria vectors and 30-minute WHO bioassays. Resistance to pyrethroids and OPs was assessed by detecting the frequency of L1014F and L1014S kdr mutation…
Efficacy of an insecticide paint against malaria vectors and nuisance in West Africa--part 2: field evaluation.
2010
Abstract Background Widespread resistance of the main malaria vector Anopheles gambiae to pyrethroids reported in many African countries and operational drawbacks to current IRS methods suggest the convenience of exploring new products and approaches for vector control. Insecticide paint Inesfly 5A IGR™, containing two organophosphates (OPs), chlorpyrifos and diazinon, and one insect growth regulator (IGR), pyriproxyfen, was tested in Benin, West Africa, for 12 months. Methods Field trials were conducted in six experimental huts that were randomly allocated to one or two layers of insecticide at 1 Kg/6 m2 or control. Evaluations included: (i) early mosquito collection, (ii) mosquito release…
[1,2,3]Triazolo[1,5-a]pyridyl phosphines reflecting the influence of phosphorus lone pair orientation on spectroscopic properties
2010
A series of new triazolopyridine-based phosphines has been prepared. These compounds revealed unexpected spectroscopic patterns. In particular, the NMR spectra are highly dependent on the relative conformational preference of the phosphine substituent at C7. Here, we report on their complete NMR analysis, X-ray structures and DFT calculations that confirm the particular arrangement of the phosphorus lone pair orbital related to the substituent pattern of the chosen phosphine.
Discriminating octahedral transition metal ions: highly selective tripodal tris-(2,2′-bipyridine) functionalized piperazine cyclophane receptor for C…
2011
New tripodal transition metal ion receptors, tris(5-ethoxycarbonyl-2,2'-bipyridine) and tris(5-carboxylate-2,2'-bipyridine) substituted 27-membered trimeric piperazine cyclophanes 5 and 7 as well as tetra(5-ethoxycarbonyl-2,2'-bipyridine) substituted 36-membered tetrameric piperazine cyclophane 6, have been prepared and their transition metal ion complexing properties studied in solution by UV-vis spectroscopy and in the solid state by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structures of [H(3)5(3+)·Fe(2+)]·4(ClO(4)(-))·CF(3)COO(-) (V), [H(3)7(2+)·Fe(2+)]·2(SO(4)(2-)) (VII) and the reference complex [tris(5,5'-bis(ethoxycarbonyl)-2,2'-bipyridine)Fe(II) perchlorate] (I) showed that the…
Bridging rigidity and flexibility : modulation of supramolecular hydrogels by metal complexation
2021
The combination of complementary, noncovalent interactions is a key principle for the design of multistimuli responsive hydrogels. In this work, an amphiphilic peptide, supramacromolecular hydrogelator which combines metal-ligand coordination induced gelation and thermoresponsive toughening is reported. Following a modular approach, the incorporation of the triphenylalanine sequence FFF into a structural (C3EG ) and a terpyridine-functionalized (C3Tpy ) C3 -symmetric monomer enables their statistical copolymerization into self-assembled, 1D nanorods in water, as investigated by circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). In the presence of a terpyridine …
Highly selective recovery of Ni(II) in neutral and acidic media using a novel Ni(II)-ion imprinted polymer
2022
In this work, an original ion-imprinted polymer (IIP) was synthetized for the highly selective removal of Ni(II) ions in neutral and acidic media. First a novel functional monomer (AMP-MMA) was synthetized through the amidation of 2-(aminomethyl)pyridine (AMP) with methacryloylchloride. Following Ni(II)/AMP-MMA complex formation study, the Ni(II)-IIP was produced via inverse suspension polymerization (DMSO in mineral oil) and characterized with solid state 13C CPMAS NMR, FT-IR, SEM and nitrogen adsorption/desorption experiments. The Ni(II)-IIP was then used in solid-phase extraction of Ni(II) exploring a wide range of pH (from neutral to strongly acidic solution), several initial concentrat…
