How alternative food networks work in a metropolitan area? An analysis of Solidarity Purchase Groups in Northern Italy

AbstractOur paper focuses on Solidarity Purchase Group (SPG) participants located in a highly urbanized area, with the aim to investigate the main motivations underlining their participation in a SPG and provide a characterization of them. To this end, we carried out a survey of 795 participants involved in 125 SPGs in the metropolitan area of Milan (Italy). Taking advantage of a questionnaire with 39 questions, we run a factor analysis and a two-step cluster analysis to identify different profiles of SPG participants. The human capital estimates included in this database contain a wide range of information on how education levels in Spain have evolved, classified according to the level of studies completed and other human capital indicators. Standard testing of photovoltaic modules for use in renewable energy education

A photovoltaic laboratory exercise has been devised and used in the educational curriculum of the Renewable Energy Programme at the University of Jyväskylä. The purpose of the experimental tasks is to give students of renewable energy a good understanding of standard testing procedures used in industry for characterising photovoltaic modules and to provide practical skills in sizing simple photovoltaic installations. Herein the experimental set-up, basic theory and measurement procedure are described. At the workshop arranged at the National Days of Chemical Education the participants had an opportunity to try out various Ipad apps and methods for utilizing them in chemistry education. The themes were based on the apps used during chemistry teacher education course arranged by the department of chemistry and methods developed on the teacher training school at the University of Jyväskylä. The apps used included Socrative Student, Google Drive, Graphical Analysis, ChemDoodle ja QR-reader. Keeping Track of Samples in Multidisciplinary Fieldwork

We here present methods, tools and results for efficiently collecting metadata and tracking samples collected in the field. The samples and metadata were collected during scientific cruises conducted by amongst others marine biologists, oceanographers, geochemists and marine geologists in the Nansen Legacy project. It is here reported on the successful development and implementation of a system for labeling, tracking and openly publishing metadata from the cruises. The results and tools have been made openly available, as they are suitable for a range of situations, from the individual scientist working in the field to large research missions.

On the use of a powder rheometer to characterize the powder flowability at low consolidation with torque resistances

The Anton Paar Powder Cell was used to measure the torque necessary to rotate an impeller in beds of glass beads, sand and alumina powders aerated between no aeration to the minimum for fluidization. Measured torque values depend on the material tested, on the air flow rate applied, on the impeller depth and on the height of the impeller blade. The effect of the impeller depth is linear for low impeller depth and is less than linear at high depth values. <p class="Pa8">Este artículo es fruto de un trabajo de campo etnográfico realizado en distintos centros de protección de mujeres de la Comunidad Valenciana. Su objetivo es desvelar los tipos de violencia que subyacen en las historias de vida de las mujeres institucionalizadas. Tanto la estrategia general como las principales técnicas de investigación utilizadas han sido de índole cualitativa.
