On the regularity of critical and minimal sets of a free interface problem

We study a free interface problem of finding the optimal energy configuration for mixtures of two conducting materials with an additional perimeter penalization of the interface. We employ the regularity theory of linear elliptic equations to study the possible opening angles of Taylor cones and to give a different proof of a partial regularity result by Fan Hua Lin [Calc Var. Partial Differential Equations, 1993].

Summary This study, as a preliminary step toward the definition of a carbon budget model for pistachio trees (Pistacia vera L.), aimed at estimating and evaluating the dynamics of respiration of vegetative and reproductive organs of pistachio tree. Trials were performed in 2005 in a commercial orchard located in Sicily (370 m a.s.l.) on five bearing 20-year-old pistachio trees of cv. Bianca grafted onto Pistachio terebinthus L. Abstract A series of amphiphilic biphenylylacetylene-based homo- and copolymers (PBPAs) carrying chiral and/or achiral oligo(ethylene glycol) pendants at the 4’-position of the biphenyl units were synthesized and the amplification of the macromolecular helicity through noncovalent and/or covalent chiral interactions followed by the memory of the helicity were investigated in both water and organic solvents. Validation of a Modified Version of the Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ12) in Spain

Background : Previous studies have found some limitations and inconsistencies in the functioning of the short Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ12), suggesting the need to improve it. The objective of the current study is to validate a modified version of the PCQ12 in Spain. Method : The sample consists of 792 employees from 42 Spanish organizations. A cross-validation was carried out to test the factorial validity of the modified scale. Reliability and convergent, discriminant, and criterion validity were also tested. Objective Amino acid composition is a sequence feature that has been extensively used to characterize proteomes of many species and protein families. Yet the analysis of amino acid composition of protein domains and the linkers connecting them has received less attention. Here, we perform both a comprehensive full-proteome amino acid composition analysis and a similar analysis focusing on domains and linkers, to uncover domain- or linker-specific differential amino acid usage patterns. Universal differentiability sets and maximal directional derivatives in Carnot groups

We show that every Carnot group G of step 2 admits a Hausdorff dimension one `universal differentiability set' N such that every real-valued Lipschitz map on G is Pansu differentiable at some point of N. This relies on the fact that existence of a maximal directional derivative of f at a point x implies Pansu differentiability at the same point x. We show that such an implication holds in Carnot groups of step 2 but fails in the Engel group which has step 3.
