Experimental System Identification and Black Box Modeling of Hydraulic Directional Control Valve

Directional control valves play a large role in most hydraulic systems. When modeling the hydraulic systems, it is important that both the steady state and dynamic characteristics of the valves are modeled correctly to reproduce the dynamic characteristics of the entire system. In this paper, a proportional valve (Brevini HPV 41) is investigated to identify its dynamic and steady state characteristics. The steady state characteristics are identified by experimental flow curves. The dynamics are determined through frequency response analysis and identified using several transfer functions. Analysis of Offshore Knuckle Boom Crane - Part Two: Motion Control

In this paper design of electro-hydraulic motion control systems for offshore knuckle boom cranes is discussed. The influence of the control valve bandwidth along with the ramp time for the control signal are investigated both analytically with simplified system models and numerically with an experimentally verified crane model. The results of both types of investigations are related to general design rules for selection of control valves and ramp times and the relevance of these design rules is discussed. Observer-Based Robust Control for Switched Stochastic Systems with Time-Varying Delay

Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2013/320703 Open Access This paper investigates the problem of observer-based robust H ∞ control for a class of switched stochastic systems with time-varying delay. Based on the average dwell time method, an exponential stability criterion for switched stochastic delay systems is proposed. Then, H ∞ performance analysis and observer-based robust H ∞ controller design for the underlying systems are developed. Finally, a numerical example is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Quasilinear Dirichlet Problems with Degenerated p-Laplacian and Convection Term

The paper develops a sub-supersolution approach for quasilinear elliptic equations driven by degenerated p-Laplacian and containing a convection term. The presence of the degenerated operator forces a substantial change to the functional setting of previous works. The existence and location of solutions through a sub-supersolution is established. The abstract result is applied to find nontrivial, nonnegative and bounded solutions.

This article reports on two studies that aimed to evaluate the effective impact of educational robotics in learning concepts related to Physics and Geography. The reported studies involved two courses from an upper secondary school and two courses from a lower secondary school.
