The magnetic moment of the ρ-meson

2014

The magnetic moment of the \rho-meson is calculated in the framework of a low-energy effective field theory of the strong interactions. We find that the complex-valued strong interaction corrections to the gyromagnetic ratio are small leading to a value close to the real leading tree level result, g_\rho = 2. This is in a reasonably good agreement with the available lattice QCD calculations for this quantity.

From quark-gluon plasma to hadron spectra

2001

Results on initial transverse energy production based on NLO perturbative QCD calculation with final state saturation of produced minijets are used to fix the initial energy density of produced matter. Assuming rapid thermalization, this provides the initial conditions for a hydrodynamic description of the expansion of final matter. Given a prescription of the the decoupling of particles from the thermal system to free particles, final transverse spectra of hadrons and integrated quantities like multiplicity and transverse energy can be calculated in the central rapidity region. Results are reported and compared with measurements.

Studies ofWboson plus jets production inpp¯collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2013

We present a comprehensive analysis of inclusive W(-> ev) + n-jet (n >= 1, 2, 3, 4) production in proton-antiproton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV at the Tevatron collider using a 3.7 fb(-1) data set collected by the D0 detector. Differential cross sections are presented as a function of the jet rapidities (y), lepton transverse momentum (P-T) and pseudorapidity (eta), the scalar sum of the transverse energies of the W boson and all jets (H-T), leading dijet P-T and invariant mass, dijet rapidity separations for a variety of jet pairings for P-T-ordered and angular-ordered jets, dijet opening angle, dijet azimuthal angular separations for P-T-ordered and angular-ordered j…

Measurement of the inclusiveW±andZ/γ*cross sections in theeandμdecay channels inppcollisions ats=7  TeVwith the ATLAS detector

2012

The production cross sections of the inclusive Drell-Yan processes W-+/- -> l nu and Z/gamma* -> ll (l = e, mu) are measured in proton-proton collisions at root s = 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector. The cross sections are reported integrated over a fiducial kinematic range, extrapolated to the full range, and also evaluated differentially as a function of the W decay lepton pseudorapidity and the Z boson rapidity, respectively. Based on an integrated luminosity of about 35 pb(-1) collected in 2010, the precision of these measurements reaches a few percent. The integrated and the differential W-+/- and Z/gamma* cross sections in the e and mu channels are combined, and compared with perturbative…

High energy resummation of jet observables

2017

In this paper we investigate the extension of high energy resummation at LLx accuracy to jet observables. In particular, we present the high energy resummed expression of the transverse momentum distribution of the outgoing parton in the general partonic process $g(q) + g(q) \to g(q) + X$. In order to reach this result, several new ideas are introduced and exploited. First we prove that LLx resummation is achieved by dressing with hard radiation an off-shell gluon initiated LO process even if its on-shell limit is vanishing or trivial. Then we present a gauge-invariant framework where these calculations can be performed by using the modern helicity techniques. Finally, we show a possible wa…

Heavy ion collision multiplicities and gluon distribution functions

2001

Atomic number ($A$) and energy ($\roots$) scaling exponents of multiplicity and transverse energy in heavy ion collisions are analytically derived in the perturbative QCD + saturation model. The exponents depend on the small-$x$ behaviour of gluon distribution functions at an $x$-dependent scale. The relation between initial state and final state saturation is also discussed.

Centrality determination of Pb-Pb collisions atsNN=2.76TeV with ALICE

2013

This publication describes the methods used to measure the centrality of inelastic Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 2.76 TeV per colliding nucleon pair with ALICE. The centrality is a key parameter in the study of the properties of QCD matter at extreme temperature and energy density, because it is directly related to the initial overlap region of the colliding nuclei. Geometrical properties of the collision, such as the number of participating nucleons and the number of binary nucleon-nucleon collisions, are deduced from a Glauber model with a sharp impact parameter selection and shown to be consistent with those extracted from the data. The centrality determination provides …

Analytic results for planar three-loop integrals for massive form factors

2016

We use the method of differential equations to analytically evaluate all planar three-loop Feynman integrals relevant for form factor calculations involving massive particles. Our results for ninety master integrals at general $q^2$ are expressed in terms of multiple polylogarithms, and results for fiftyone master integrals at the threshold $q^2=4m^2$ are expressed in terms of multiple polylogarithms of argument one, with indices equal to zero or to a sixth root of unity.

Photon-pion charge asymmetry in e+e− reactions: A laboratory for perturbative QCD phases

1987

Abstract The charge asymmetry in the production of a photon and a meson in e + e - annihilation is studied in perturbative QCD. This quantity measures the interference of amplitudes governed by different momentum scales. It is thus a powerful tool to probe strong interaction phases at high energy and in the context of Sudakov exponentiation and the chromo Coulomb phase. We find a null result at the lowest non-trivial order off α s in the entire kinematic region described by perturbative QCD.
