Aunque son pocos los testimonios que acreditan que Leon Battista Alberti poseyera conocimientos de teoría de la música, y a pesar de no conocer exactamente los contenidos de su formación intelectual, los diversos tratados artísticos que escribió demuestran que conocía los postulados de las ciencias del quadrivium. Este artículo analiza los principios de teoría de la música derivados de la fundamentación que de la finitio arquitectónica hizo L. B. D uring the Anglo-Saxon period, English schools were among the finest in Europe. From English schools came the great masters whose writings instructed generations, centuries even, of Insular and continental students alike: one has only to think of the works of Aldhelm, Bede and Alcuin, which were copied and studied intensively up to the twelfth century and beyond.
