Identifying Themes for Research-based Development of Pedagogy and Guidance in Higher Education

2013

The high value accorded to the research-based development of education in higher education communities means that researchers in the field have an important role in determining the foci of such efforts. However, it is important to ask whether higher education research is providing answers that satisfy practical educational needs. In this study, themes in higher education research published in Finland during 2000–2008 were compared to those addressed in non-refereed writings published by higher education teachers and students. The thematic analyses, (n = 1,298) focusing on topics related to learning, studying, and their promotion revealed the need for a broader life-wide framework for develo…

Buone pratiche e strumenti di analisi per l’apprendimento, l’insegnamento e l’inclusione

2022

L’«Explanatory Design is a two-phase mixed methods design. The overall purpose of this desi…

HEALTHCARE QUALITY - A MANAGERIAL APPROACH

2014

Healthcare quality has been defined in different ways, depending on the dimension that the authors had in mind. Furthermore, if initially healthcare quality was defined and assessed from the specialists’ and researchers’ point of view, nowadays the importance of patient and the public opinion preferences and perspective has been recognized. Thus, the first step in assessing the quality of these services involves defining what is meant by "quality". Along these lines, this paper presents the results of a qualitative research, conducted on a sample of 16 managers, quality managers and CEOs of several clinics and hospitals, both public and private (for-profit), from Bucharest.

Hotspot System in Italy: Politics of Refusal against the Economic Migrants and their Effects

2018

The purpose of this paper is to describe the aporias in the institutional discourse regarding the strategies of reception-refoulement of asylum seekers in Italy. First, it will analyze the evolution of the institutional discourse on security in recent years through a reflection on some aspects of the Schengen Treaty and the Dublin Convention of 1985 (Dublion I, II and III) and “Regimes of Mobility” (Glick Schiller & Salazar, 2013). Secondly, we will try to show that economic migrants, who are rejects according to “Hotspot system” and now to the decree “Minniti”, are often found them in severe distress conditions and in absolute inability to return to their countries. Refugees that circumven…

Surrogacy relationships: a critical interpretative review

2020

Abstract Based on a critical interpretative review of existing qualitative research investigating accounts of ‘lived experience’ of surrogates and intended parents from a relational perspective, this article proposes a typology of surrogacy arrangements. The review is based on the analysis of 39 articles, which belong to a range of different disciplines (mostly sociology, social psychology, anthropology, ethnology, and gender studies). The number of interviews in each study range from as few as seven to over one hundred. Countries covered include Australia, Canada, Greece, India, Iran, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Russia, Sweden, UK, Ukraine, and the USA. Most studies focus only on surrog…

Rethinking validity in qualitative sport and exercise psychology research: a realist perspective

2019

Over the last two decades, the relativist approach has significantly shaped debates about the quality and rigour of qualitative research in sport and exercise psychology (SEP). In the absence of any published critiques of relativism in SEP, this paper problematises its central claims with a focus on the most recent contribution offered by Smith and McGannon (2018 Smith, B., & McGannon, K. R. (2018). Developing rigor in qualitative research: Problems and opportunities within sport and exercise psychology. Managing Continuous Digital Service Innovation for Value Co-Creation

2023

Service organizations across various industries are increasingly implementing continuous development methods and practices to transform their digital service innovation and development processes. Consequently, continuous digital service innovation (DSI) has become a way to react to today’s dynamic markets by proposing value to customers quickly while maintaining service quality. However, little is known about how organizations can enable value co-creation (VCC) in their continuous DSI processes. We fill this gap in the literature by focusing on organizational-level continuous DSI processes. Based on findings from 23 industry informants from six Finnish digital service organizations, we pres…

Analyzing Music Services Positioning Through Qualitative Research

2015

Information technologies have produced new ways of distributing and consuming music, mainly by youth, in relation to both goods and services. In the case of goods, there has been a dramatic shift from traditional ways of buying and listening to music to new digital platforms. There has also been an evolution in relation to music services. In this sense, live music concerts have been losing their audiences over the past few years, as have music radio stations, in favor of streaming platforms. Curious about this phenomenon, we conducted an exploratory research in order to analyze how all these services, both traditional and new ones were perceived. Specifically, we aimed to study youth´s asse…
