Age- and gender-matched reference values are essential for the clinical use of quantitative sensory testing (QST). To extend the standard test sites for QST-according to the German Research Network on Neuropathic Pain-to the trunk, we collected QST profiles on the back in 162 healthy subjects. Sensory profiles for standard test sites were within normal interlaboratory differences. QST revealed lower sensitivity on the upper back than the hand, and higher sensitivity on the lower back than the foot, but no systematic differences between these trunk sites. A fully mechanised immunonephelometric method for the rapid and specific determination of C4b-binding protein (C4b-BP) in citrated plasma is described. The method utilizes commercially available rabbit antiserum against human C4b-BP and a nephelometer analyser. A single determination can be performed within 6 min, requiring 80 microliters sample volume. The measuring range is about 10 to 200% of normal C4b-BP. Precision is characterized by intraassay coefficients of variation between 1.5% and 2.8%, and interassay coefficients of variation between 4.0% and 4.6% for the same C4b-BP concentrations. This study builds on research about the importance of body presentation among men who have sex with men (MSM) by exploring the phenomenon of nude body presentation in online dating environments. In a quantitative survey of N = 9,235 MSM users of a gay online dating site (ODS) in Germany, the prevalence of nude pictures and gratifications sought while displaying them were investigated. The information concerning the dynamic behavior of the sleep process gained by the usual evaluation of sleep EEGs according to the criteria of Rechtschaffen and Kales is limited. Therefore a new methodical approach is presented, which is a special case of spectral analyzed data processing. After digital band-pass filtering of the sleep EEG the root-mean-square (RMS) value of successive 20 s EEG epochs is calculated in defined frequency ranges.
