Survey On Competence and Administration of Supervisory Board Activities in German Stock-Listed Companies

2017

Abstract According to the agency theory (Jensen & Meckling 1976), it is expected that there exists a positive relationship between corporate governance and company performance which is also generally assumed in recent research (Dignam & Galanis 2016). This relationship is investigated in the study performed by the author of this paper. Two different approaches were chosen in parallel: (1) quantitative data analysis, based on financial figures and corporate governance variables, and (2) a survey of supervisory board members of listed German companies. This paper is about the results of structured interviews with 30 supervisory board members. The survey confirms that corporate governa…

3D-QSAR study of ligands for a human olfactory receptor

2005

Abstract Only about 350 olfactory receptors (OR) provide a basis for the remarkable ability of humans to recognise and discriminate a large number of odorants. A recent study reports the odorant repertoire of a human class II OR called OR1G1, including both agonists and antagonists. We used these affinity data to perform a 3D molecular modelling study of these ligands using Catalyst/HypoGen software (Catalyst v4.9.1, Accelrys Inc., San Diego, 2004) to propose alignment models for OR1G1 ligands. We obtained a triple-alignment model, which satisfactorily explained the experimental activities and was able both to predict the antagonist effects of some compounds and to identify new potent agoni…

Assays for Detection of Fungal Hallucinogens Such as Psilocybin and Psilocin

2016

Abstract Methods applicable to the detection of hallucinogenic indole compounds, namely psilocybin, psilocin, and related molecules, that have been developed so far for purposes of mycological research, toxicological studies, or forensic investigations are described in this chapter. The most current literature as well as some interesting older publications are cited, providing a historical overview of the subject. Methods of qualitative and quantitative analysis are presented. Additionally, preliminary purification steps and sample treatment before the exact quantitative determination are proposed. The methods described utilized various analytical techniques for the measurement of psilocybi…
