Poisson-Nijenhuis structures and the Vinogradov bracket
1994
We express the compatibility conditions that a Poisson bivector and a Nijenhuis tensor must fulfil in order to be a Poisson-Nijenhuis structure by means of a graded Lie bracket. This bracket is a generalization of Schouten and Frolicher-Nijenhuis graded Lie brackets defined on multivector fields and on vector valued differential forms respectively.
Module categories of finite Hopf algebroids, and self-duality
2017
International audience; We characterize the module categories of suitably finite Hopf algebroids (more precisely, $X_R$-bialgebras in the sense of Takeuchi (1977) that are Hopf and finite in the sense of a work by the author (2000)) as those $k$-linear abelian monoidal categories that are module categories of some algebra, and admit dual objects for "sufficiently many" of their objects. Then we proceed to show that in many situations the Hopf algebroid can be chosen to be self-dual, in a sense to be made precise. This generalizes a result of Pfeiffer for pivotal fusion categories and the weak Hopf algebras associated to them.
The expansion $\star$ mod $\bar{o}(\hbar^4)$ and computer-assisted proof schemes in the Kontsevich deformation quantization
2019
The Kontsevich deformation quantization combines Poisson dynamics, noncommutative geometry, number theory, and calculus of oriented graphs. To manage the algebra and differential calculus of series of weighted graphs, we present software modules: these allow generating the Kontsevich graphs, expanding the noncommutative & x22c6;-product by using a priori undetermined coefficients, and deriving linear relations between the weights of graphs. Throughout this text we illustrate the assembly of the Kontsevich & x22c6;-product up to order 4 in the deformation parameter Already at this stage, the & x22c6;-product involves hundreds of graphs; expressing all their coefficients via 149 w…
Kontsevich–Zagier Periods
2017
We compare the set of Kontsevich–Zagier periods defined by integrals over semi-algebraic subsets of \(\mathbb {R}^n\) with cohomological periods.
Hochschild Cohomology Theories in White Noise Analysis
2008
We show that the continuous Hochschild cohomology and the differential Hochschild cohomology of the Hida test algebra endowed with the normalized Wick product are the same.
The Dunkl–Williams constant, convexity, smoothness and normal structure
2008
Abstract In this paper we exhibit some connections between the Dunkl–Williams constant and some other well-known constants and notions. We establish bounds for the Dunkl–Williams constant that explain and quantify a characterization of uniformly nonsquare Banach spaces in terms of the Dunkl–Williams constant given by M. Baronti and P.L. Papini. We also study the relationship between Dunkl–Williams constant, the fixed point property for nonexpansive mappings and normal structure.
Variable fractional Fourier processor: a simple implementation
1997
A new set of optical implementations of the fractional Fourier transform (FRT) is developed by use of Wigner matrix algebra. The reinterpretation of some elementary operations that synthesize a rotation in the phase-space domain allows us to propose a lensless setup for obtaining the FRT. This compact configuration is also very flexible, because the fractional degree of the transformation can be varied continuously by shifting the input and the output planes along the optical axis by proper amounts. The above results permit one to build an optical FRT processor formed by two FRT systems in cascade, with a spatial filter between them. We present the design of such a variable FRT processor, w…
On the geometry of the characteristic class of a star product on a symplectic manifold
2001
The characteristic class of a star product on a symplectic manifold appears as the class of a deformation of a given symplectic connection, as described by Fedosov. In contrast, one usually thinks of the characteristic class of a star product as the class of a deformation of the Poisson structure (as in Kontsevich's work). In this paper, we present, in the symplectic framework, a natural procedure for constructing a star product by directly quantizing a deformation of the symplectic structure. Basically, in Fedosov's recursive formula for the star product with zero characteristic class, we replace the symplectic structure by one of its formal deformations in the parameter $\hbar$. We then s…
Triply Factorised Groups and the Structure of Skew Left Braces
2021
The algebraic structure of skew left brace has proved to be useful as a source of set-theoretic solutions of the Yang–Baxter equation. We study in this paper the connections between left and right $$\pi $$ -nilpotency and the structure of finite skew left braces. We also study factorisations of skew left braces and their impact on the skew left brace structure. As a consequence of our study, we define a Fitting-like ideal of a left brace. Our approach depends strongly on a description of a skew left brace in terms of a triply factorised group obtained from the action of the multiplicative group of the skew left brace on its additive group.
Lévy–Khintchine decompositions for generating functionals on algebras associated to universal compact quantum groups
2018
We study the first and second cohomology groups of the $^*$-algebras of the universal unitary and orthogonal quantum groups $U_F^+$ and $O_F^+$. This provides valuable information for constructing and classifying L\'evy processes on these quantum groups, as pointed out by Sch\"urmann. In the case when all eigenvalues of $F^*F$ are distinct, we show that these $^*$-algebras have the properties (GC), (NC), and (LK) introduced by Sch\"urmann and studied recently by Franz, Gerhold and Thom. In the degenerate case $F=I_d$, we show that they do not have any of these properties. We also compute the second cohomology group of $U_d^+$ with trivial coefficients -- $H^2(U_d^+,{}_\epsilon\Bbb{C}_\epsil…
