Gauge-invariant on-shellZ 2 in QED, QCD and the effective field theory of a static quark

We calculate theon-shell fermion wave-function renormalization constantZ 2 of a general gauge theory, to two loops, inD dimensions and in an arbitrary covariant gauge, and find it to be gauge-invariant. In QED this is consistent with the dimensionally regularized version of the Johnson-Zumino relation: d logZ 2/da 0=i(2π)−D e 0 2 ∫d D k/k 4=0. In QCD it is, we believe, a new result, strongly suggestive of the cancellation of the gauge-dependent parts of non-abelian UV and IR anomalous dimensions to all orders. QCD corrections to static heavy-quark form factors

Interactions of heavy quarks, in particular of top quarks, with electroweak gauge bosons are expected to be very sensitive to new physics effects related to electroweak symmetry breaking. These interactions are described by the so-called static form factors, which include anomalous magnetic moments and the effective weak charges. We compute the second-order QCD corrections to these static form factors, which turn out to be sizeable and need to be taken into account in searches for new anomalous coupling effects.

Detailed quantum-chromodynamic predictions for high-pTprocesses

High-${p}_{T}$ single-particle inclusive cross section calculations are presented for the CERN ISR and ISABELLE energy ranges, taking into account all lowest-order hard-scattering subprocesses required by quantum chromodynamics (QCD). The input quark and gluon distribution and fragmentation functions were determined from analyses of deep-inelastic lepton data and were subject to various theoretical constraints such as sum rules and SU(3) symmetry. We thoroughly discuss the effects of the individual contributions from fermionic and gluonic subprocesses, as well as those effects stemming from QCD scaling violations in parton distributions and/or fragmentation functions. The errant life of a heavy quark in the quark–gluon plasma

In the high-temperature phase of QCD, the heavy-quark momentum diffusion constant determines, via a fluctuation–dissipation relation, how fast a heavy quark kinetically equilibrates. This transport coefficient can be extracted from thermal correlators via a Kubo formula. We present a lattice calculation of the relevant Euclidean correlators in the gluon plasma, based on a recent formulation of the problem in heavy-quark effective field theory (HQET). We find a ≈20% enhancement of the Euclidean correlator at maximal time separation as the temperature is lowered from 6Tc to 2Tc, pointing to stronger interactions at lower temperatures. Do the Quark Masses Run? Extractingm¯b(mZ)from CERN LEP Data

We present the first results of next-to-leading order QCD corrections to three-jet heavy quark production at the CERN ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider LEP including mass effects. Among other applications, this calculation can be used to extract the bottom-quark mass from LEP data and, therefore, to test the running of masses as predicted by QCD.

Diphoton resonance from a warped extra dimension

We argue that extensions of the Standard Model (SM) with a warped extra dimension, which successfully address the hierarchy and flavor problems of elementary particle physics, can provide an elegant explanation of the 750 GeV diphoton excess recently reported by ATLAS and CMS. A gauge-singlet bulk scalar with ${\cal O}(1)$ couplings to fermions is identified as the new resonance $S$, and the vector-like Kaluza-Klein excitations of the SM quarks and leptons mediate its loop-induced couplings to photons and gluons. Dimensional reduction methods in QCD

We apply the technique of dimensional reduction to massless quantum chromodynamics. It is shown that compared to conventional dimensional regularization methods calculations of radiative corrections at the one-loop level are less involved. We discuss the use of helicity methods within this framework and as an application we evaluate the one-loop corrections to the parity-violating cross sections and to the quark forwardbackward asymmetric polarization in\(e^ + e^ - \to V \to q\bar q(g)\). Operator product expansion and quark condensate from Lattice QCD in coordinate space

We present a lattice QCD determination of the chiral quark condensate based on a new method. We extract the quark condensate from the operator product expansion of the quark propagator at short euclidean distances, where it represents the leading contribution in the chiral limit. From this study we obtain MS( 2 GeV) = -( 265 +/- 5 +/- 22MeV)(3), in good agreement with determinations of this quantity based on different approaches. The simulation is performed by using the O( a)- improved Wilson action at beta = 6.45 on a volume 32(3) x 70 in the quenched approximation.

A QCD calculation of the pion-nucleon sigma-term

We present the results of a QCD sum rule calculation of the pion-nucleon sigma-term. Depending on the uncertain value of the four quark condensate we obtain σ=10...40 MeV.

QCD Jets at HERA II.O(? s 2 ) four-jet cross-sections

We present exact expressions for theO(α s 2 ) tree graph four-jet cross-sections in neutral current and charged current deep inelasticep scattering initiated by quarks, antiquarks and gluons including lepton polarization effects. Using helicity amplitudes the partonic cross-sections are given in concise form including all colour, flavour and statistical factors.
