Current practice in managing patients on anticoagulants and/or antiplatelet agents around the time of gastrointestinal endoscopy -- a nation-wide sur…
2004
Anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents are widely used in the prophylaxis and management of thromboembolic and cardiovascular diseases. Gastrointestinal bleeding is a well-known complication of these agents. Modification of anticoagulant and antiplatelet therapy is often required in patients undergoing surgical procedures and specific recommendations for the perioperative period have been issued. Fewer data exist with regard to the use of these agents around the time of endoscopic procedures. A survey of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), performed several years ago, showed a wide variation between endoscopists in the management of anticoagulants and antiplatelet ag…
Risk perception of sars-cov-2 infection and implementation of various protective measures by dentists across various countries
2021
Objective: Healthcare workers in general are at a high risk of potential infections with COVID-19, especially those who work with aerosol generating procedures. Dentists fall in this category, as not only do they operate with aerosol generating procedures but also operate within a face-to-face contact area. Methods: A structured self-administered questionnaire was developed at Najran University and provided to the participants for data collection. The data collected included information on risk perception and incorporation of measures for protection against COVID-19 to gauge the attitude of dentists during this period. Also, clinical implementation of various protective measures was reviewe…
Fear of Coronavirus, Stress and Fear of Childbirth in Polish Pregnant Women during the COVID-19 Pandemic
2021
The COVID-19 pandemic is the largest pandemic of an aggressive coronavirus in the human population in the 21st century. The pandemic may have a negative emotional impact on pregnant women, causing fear and stress. Negative feelings during pregnancy later affect fear of childbirth. Our study aimed to determine the relationship between fear of COVID-19, stress and fear of childbirth. We assume that fear of COVID-19 will be a mediator of the relationship between perceived stress and fear of childbirth. A total of 262 Polish pregnant women participated in this study. Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FOC-6) and Labour Anxiety Questionnaire (KLP II) were used in the study.…
Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on Disease Control Status and Quality of Life of Patients with Acromegaly.
2022
Background and Objectives: Despite the best efforts of healthcare workers and the deployment of alternative healthcare delivery solutions through telemedicine, the pandemic has disrupted standard care for patients with chronic conditions. The long-lasting pandemic has also had a profound impact on the quality of life (QoL) of the majority of patients with chronic illnesses. The management of rare diseases has been particularly challenging. We aimed to evaluate the impacts that the long-lasting pandemic had on the disease control status and QoL in patients with acromegaly. Materials and Methods: Our prospective study included 34 patients from a national referral centre. The baseline SAGIT an…
The Safety Culture Enactment Questionnaire (SCEQ): Theoretical model and empirical validation
2015
This paper presents the Safety Culture Enactment Questionnaire (SCEQ), designed to assess the degree to which safety is an enacted value in the day-to-day running of nuclear power plants (NPPs). The SCEQ is based on a theoretical safety culture model that is manifested in three fundamental components of the functioning and operation of any organization: strategic decisions, human resources practices, and daily activities and behaviors. The extent to which the importance of safety is enacted in each of these three components provides information about the pervasiveness of the safety culture in the NPP. To validate the SCEQ and the model on which it is based, two separate studies were carried…
[Analysis of patient safety culture in an out of hours primary care service.]
2020
Background: Aim of this study, part of a European collaborative research project, was to evaluate the "patient safety culture" (PSC) in a primary care out of hours service in order to provide the management with a baseline for improvement interventions. Methods: Cross sectional study with the administration of the Safety Attitude Questionnaire Ambulatory Version (SAQ-AV) administered to all the 56 doctors working out of hours in the ULSS 20 Verona Local Health Trust in April/May 2015. For each item of the questionnaire the average score, standard deviation, non-applicability, percentage of agreement, percentage of disagreement were calculated. Results: Doctors working out of hours appreciat…
Validation of a questionnaire designed to measure nursing student satisfaction with practical training
2019
Objective: to validate an instrument designed to assess practical training and measure nursing student satisfaction with clinical practice modules. Method: cross-sectional study (academic year 2014-2015). Validation of the self-administered, anonymous, 17-item Nursing Student Satisfaction with Practical Training Questionnaire, developed by consensus by eight practical training experts in three nominal group sessions. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were performed to assess internal consistency and validity. Student satisfaction was measured in relation to each module and all modules as a whole. Results: 174 responses. High item-test correlation (≥0.90); Cronbach’s alpha = 0.91;…
Psychometric Properties and Measurement Invariance by Gender of the Abbreviated Three-Item Version of the Satisfaction with Life Scale in a Colombian…
2022
(1) Background: The need to offer brief scales with items that can be answered with few response options is increasingly important in order to be able to access a broad range of the population. The three-item version of Diener’s Satisfaction with Life Scale has recently been proposed. The objective of this study is to study the psychometric properties of the three-item version of this Scale with five response options, as well as the measurement invariance by gender, in a Colombian sample; (2) Methods: A confirmatory factor model of the three items of the scale together with the Flourishing Scale has been tested, and the measurement invariance by gender of the model has been studied. The res…

How to find information on national food and nutrient consumption surveys across Europe: systematic literature review and questionnaires to selected …
2009
The present research was conducted within the framework of the EURopean micronutrient RECommendations Aligned project. In order to identify the best practice in assessing nutrient intakes, a search strategy for collecting data from national food consumption surveys/studies in Europe was developed. Systematic literature searches were carried out on twenty-eight European and the four European Free Trade Association countries. A questionnaire was also sent to two to five experts in each country. Systematic reviews using PubMed yielded 12 703 abstracts that were reduced to 200 studies using inclusion and exclusion criteria. Similarly, a search of ministry web sites yielded 3033 hits, and subseq…
