Saksa jälleenyhdistyi 3. lokakuuta vuonna 1990, kun Saksan demokraattinen tasavalta (DDR) liitettiin osaksi Saksan liittotasavaltaa. Samalla DDR käytännössä lakkasi olemasta. Saksalaiset olivat joutuneet jo toisen maailmansodan jälkeen käsittelemään vaikeaa kansallissosialistista menneisyyttään. Yhdistymisen jälkeen Saksassa syntyi tarve käsitellä myös DDR-menneisyyttä ja hyvittää DDR:ssä tapahtuneita vääryyksiä. Tämän tutkielman tarkoitus on perehtyä kantasolututkimuksen bioetiikkaan ja diskurssianalyysin avulla selvittää miten kantasolututkimuksesta puhuvat tiedetaustaiset sekä uskontaustaiset henkilöt ja miten diskurssit eroavat toisistaan. Empiirisenä aineistona toimivat erinäiset tieteelliset ja uskonnolliset julkaisut (n=30). Metadiskursseina toimivat lääketieteellinen eli bioeettinen sekä uskonnolliset diskurssit. Lääketieteellisestä diskurssista paljastui myös sairauksien parantamisen-, tutkimustyön-, lakiin pohjautuvan-, taloudellisen sekä uhkien aladiskurssit kun uskonnollisessa ne olivat kritisoiva, poliittinen ja taloudellinen. In contrast to recent reinforcements of Europe's internal and external borders due to the refugee situation on the Mediterranean and the Covid-19 outbreak, talk of European borders has in the past decades focused on the freedom of mobility guaranteed by the Schengen treaty.
