Esclusione, parola, silenzio: Mariella Mehr

2019

The essay aims to present the poetic and narrative work of Mariella Mehr, an extraordinary witness of our time and one of the most significant poetic voices of contemporary German language literature. If the density of poetic language and the thematic choice bring Mehr clos- er to the very high examples of Celan, Sachs, Levi, the peculiar quality of writing, its rough perfection and the fiery temperature of the imagination make it unique in the prose of our time.

DOBLE PRESENCIA O DOBLE RACISMO? INCLUSIÓN Y EXCLUSIÓN DE LOS JÓVENES DE SEGUNDA GENERACIÓN EN ITALIA

2021

The second generations (2G) do not have a static and homogeneous ethnic identity, but multiple and transnational identities. The lack of recognition as citizens and their perceived discrimination and feelings of exclusion often can have backwash on the process of reconstruction of identity and creation of hybrid identity as a synthesis between identity and difference. From the analysis of the interviews with 2G young people, collected in 7 cities in Italy, emerges the constant attempt to assert themselves through the transformation of “double absence” into “double presence” and of their invisibility in visibility. Our paper deals with the different ways of this transition comparing the inte…

Liminality and (Trans)Nationalism in the Rethinking of the African Canadian Subjectivity: Esi Edugyan’s The Second Life of Samuel Tyne

2015

Drawing on the concepts of liminality proposed by Arnold Van Gennep and Victor Turner and Althusser's three ideological tools that nationalism prescribe to be undertaken by individuals who try to become an integral part of a national community, this paper reads Esi Edugyan’s debut novel, The Second Life of Samuel Tyne (2004), as an exploration of the role of literature within the debate about the different positions of black Canadian subjectivity and national adherence. George Elliott Clarke and Rinaldo Walcott polarized the African Canadian criticism by proposing two different theories in an attempt to shape up and (re)define the subjectivity of black Canadians. Clarke advocates to include…

"Saagat tuntevat Suomen kuninkaat" - pseudohistoriallisesta kirjoittelusta Suomen muinaisuudesta

2017

Olemme valinneet lähteiksi viisi aiheesta kirjoitettua blogikirjoitusta, kolme J…

Una storia italiana: Giorgio e Isabella

2018

This paper focuses on the story of two dark-skinned Italians written for Giorgio Marincola by Carlo Costa and Lorenzo Teodonio in Razza partigiana and for his sister Isabella by Wu Ming 2 and Antar Mohamed in Timira. Romanzo meticcio. The events of their lives as well as many other aspects of our colonial neocolonial and postcolonial history have re-emerged from the darkness in which they had been hidden only in the last fifteen years thanks to the reopening of the archives allowing to re-discuss many of the aspects that in the pages of History as well as in those of literature had been told in another way. The two works that could be inserted into the current defined as the "new Italian epic" dismantle a series of clichés and prejudices and invite us to reflect on the concept of Italian identity on colonialism and its consequence in the short and long term and particularly on racism.Settore L-FIL-LET/14 - Critica Letteraria E Letterature Comparate
