Microscopic theory of colloid formation in solids under irradiation

1996

Results of the first-principles study of diffusion-controlled aggregation of Frenkel defects-interstitial atoms-under irradiation of solids are presented. Conditions of the efficient radiation-induced aggregation of vacancies and interstitials are studied and the scenario of this process is presented.

Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance in Colloidal Copper Sulphide (Cu2-xS, x = 0 ≤ x < 1) Nanocrystals and Its Applications

2021

Colloidally prepared copper sulphide (Cu2-xS) nanocrystals are possessing superior structural and optical properties owing to the presence of copper vacancies. The application of colloidal Cu2-xS nanocrystals are critically analysed for several optoelectronic applications. Furthermore, colloidally prepared Cu2-xS nanocrystals undergo facile process such as cation exchange, additives induced structural modifications etc. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the optical properties of these nanomaterials in order to apply them for future optoelectronic applications. Out of other properties, localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) by controlling composition of the Cu2-xS nanocrystals is in…

Rotational diffusion of colloid spheres in concentrated suspensions studied by deuteron NMR

1997

We present a study of the application of deuteron-nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) to the investigation of the rotational diffusion of spherical colloidal particles. We performed NMR pulse experiments on colloidal suspensions of polystyrene latex spheres in water-glycerol mixtures in a wide range of particle volume fractions \ensuremath{\varphi} from the dilute suspension up to \ensuremath{\varphi}=0.504. We have analyzed the stimulated echo NMR signal in the time domain. The full shape of the orientational correlation function deviates from an exponential behavior in the whole \ensuremath{\varphi} range examined. We evaluate the rotational diffusion coefficient and calculate i…

SU-E-T-176: Commissiong and Initial Clinical Experience with Dosimetry Check, a Commercial Software for in Vivo Volumetric Dosimetry

2013

Purpose: The aim of this work is to study the differences of reference point doses between the commercial EPID based dosimetry software Dosimetry Check (DC) and TPS to establish an accuracy level of the system, to evaluate its use in clinical routine and to obtain results for the first patients. Methods: We used DC v.3.8 (Math Resolutions), two Varian Clinac iX accelerators equipped with EPID aS1000 and Eclipse v.10.0 with AAA algorithm. Several plans with and without air gap were generated over the phantoms: MP1 Water Tank and Solid Octavius 4D (PTW). 5 head and neck, 3 lung and 4 prostate cases were selected for clinical evaluation. We compared the calculated dose at the isocenter and in …

On the determination of coherent solar climates over a tropical island with a complex topography

2020

Abstract Many tropical islands aim at developing a greener self-sufficient energy production systems based on renewable energy, notably solar-generated electricity. This work explores the mean diurnal and annual solar cycles over La Reunion island (southwest Indian Ocean: 21°S, 55.5°E), and their spatial behavior, using the Solar surfAce RAdiation Heliosat – East (SARAH-E) satellite-derived data at high spatial ( 0.05 ° × 0.05 ° ) and time (hourly) resolutions over period 1999–2016. Comparisons of the SARAH-E data with ground-based measurements over the period 2011–2015 show differences of ~ 15 % for diurnal-seasonal variations. The solar resource over the island displays strong spatial var…

Evaluation of sewage sludge-based compost by FT-IR spectroscopy

2006

The aerobic batch composting fermentations of sewage sludge with wood chips and maturity compost as co-composting additives were carried out in an open type lab-scale reactor. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) spectroscopy was used to monitor the composting process, evaluate the degradation rate and thus determine the maturity. Although the composition of the input mixture strongly affects the shape of the infrared (IR) spectra, typical bands of components can be selected and used to follow the composting process. The appearance, shape and intensity of the nitrate band at 1384 cm 1 was well pronounced and evident for a sewage sludgebased compost maturity. An increase of the pe…
