Background Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is a successful strategy for heart failure (HF) patients. The pre-requisite for the response is the evidence of electrical dyssynchrony on the surface electrocardiogram usually as left bundle branch block (LBBB). Non-response to CRT is a significant problem in clinical practice. Patient selection, inadequate delivery and sub-optimal left ventricle lead position may be important causes. Sphenoid sinus mucocele : an unusual complication of head and neck irradiation in a North African woman

Mucocele is a common benign lesion otherwise rarely located in the sphenoid sinus. Some complications after head and neck irradiation have been described in the literature until now. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a sphenoid sinus mucocele in a North African patient treated some years before with radiotherapy for a nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). We extend the literature review about this infrequent finding, of which head and neck surgeons should be aware. Traumatic lumbar disc extrusion mimicking spinal epidural hematoma: Case report and literature review

Background: Because the neurological presentation of spinal epidural hematomas (SEH) is often not specific, they may be misdiagnosed as acute lumbar disk herniations. Here, we present a case in which a traumatic disc extrusion mimicked an epidural hematoma and reviewed the appropriate literature. Case Description: A 27-year-old male sustained a high-energy fall. Congenital colonic stenosis is a rare pediatric condition. Since 1968, only 16 cases have been reported in the literature. To the authors’ knowledge, multiple congenital colonic stenosis has not been previously reported in the literature. Unusual giant chromophobe renal cancer totally managed with laparoscopic technique: Report of a case

Highlights • We describe a case report of giant renal cell chromophobe carcinoma totally treated by laparoscopic surgery. • The size of renal lesion represents a critical point in surgical approach because to perform a laparoscopic radical nephrectomy can be challenging even for skilled surgeons in giant renal tumors. • A brief review of literature was performed to identify outcomes and potentially surgical advantages of laparoscopic approach for retroperitoenal liposarcoma. • The possibility of the laparoscopic approach derives from from the preoperative identification of adipose cleavage, from the absence of invasion of major vascular axes, from the absence of distant metastatic lesions.

Abstract Purpose We sought was to quantify and visualize the regeneration of the remnant liver after living donor liver transplantation using computed tomographic (CT) data. Methods For the evaluation of preoperative and follow-up data, we developed a software assistant that was able to compute the volume growth of the remnant liver and liver territories as well as visualize the individual growth of hepatic vessels over time. “Unlucky punch”: unexpected annular rupture during TAVR and successful treatment

Although rare, annular rupture in TAVR is a feared and often unpredictable complication with relevant impact on in-hospital prognosis. Severe annular calcification is a common risk factor for annular rupture. We report on a case of annular rupture during TAVR with a balloon-expanded prosthesis in the absence of any annular calcification in the planning CT scan and illustrate the proposed pathomechanism as well as its successful immediate surgical management.
