ABSTRACT One hundred and sixty-one patients underwent haploidentical stem cell transplantation (haploSCT) with thiotepa, busulfan, and fludarabine conditioning followed by post-transplantation cyclophosphamide (PTCy) (on days +3 and +4) and tacrolimus as graft-versus-host disease prophylaxis. PURPOSE To describe a case of choroidal neovascularization (CNV) in a female diagnosed with Beals-Hecht syndrome. METHODS A retrospective, interventional case is described in a 26-year-old female complaining of metamorphopsia and visual loss in her left eye (counting fingers). The fluorescein angiogram and the optical coherence tomography supported the diagnosis of CNV. Intravitreal ranibizumab was administered. RESULTS After the third intravitreal ranibizumab, her visual acuity improved to 0.8 and the morphology of the macular area was restored. Abstract Twenty participants who were deaf and 20 chronological age-matched participants with typical hearing (TH) (mean age: 12 years) were asked to judge the correctness of written sentences with or without a grammatically incongruent word while their eye movements were registered. TH participants outperformed deaf participants in grammaticality judgment accuracy. Background: Cardiovascular disease is a frequent complication of type 1 diabetes (T1D). We evaluated the effectiveness of switching from glargine to degludec in reducing the cardiovascular risk factors, the Framingham risk score (FRS) and visceral adiposity index (VAI) in patients with T1D and autoimmune polyglandular syndrome (APS).Methods: We selected 66 T1D outpatients who had been on stable treatment with glargine for at least 5 years.
