Reduction rate by decompression as a treatment of odontogenic cysts

Background: Odontogenic cysts are defined as those cysts that arise from odontogenic epithelium and occur in the tooth-bearing regions of the jaws. Cystectomy, marsupialization or decompression of odontogenic cyst are treatment approach to this pathology. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the decompression as the primary treatment of the cystic lesions of the jaws and them reduction rates involving different factors. The Retrograde Tibial Nail: presentation and biomechanical evaluation of a new concept in the treatment of distal tibia fractures.

Displaced distal tibia fractures require stable fixation while minimizing secondary damage to the soft tissues by the surgical approach and implants. Antegrade intramedullary nailing has become an alternative to plate osteosynthesis for the treatment of distal metaphyseal fractures over the past two decades. While retrograde intramedullary nailing is a standard procedure in other long bone fractures, only few attempts have been made on retrograde nailing of tibial fractures. Hydration process and rheological properties of cement pastes modified by orthophosphate addition

Abstract The use of cement by nuclear industry for confining low radioactive waste knows a constant increase. The interest bore to this material is due to its mechanical and chemical properties. However, these properties may be modified by the nature and the amount of wastes introduced with the mixing solution especially with large amount of phosphate. Precipitation of hydroxylapatite in the cement paste at the very beginning after mixing was emphasized from a particular concentration of orthophosphate. Primary total hip arthroplasty with fourth-generation ceramic bearings: Clinical and survival results with a minimum follow-up of 5 years.

Abstract Objective To evaluate the clinical results and survival of primary hip prosthesis with ceramic delta bearings (C-C) with a minimum follow-up of 5 years. Material and method A total of 205 primary hip arthroplasties performed between 2008 and 2012 were studied. The clinical results, pre-surgical and at 5 years of follow-up were evaluated using the Harris Hip Score (HHS), the Short Form-36 (SF-36), the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), and the visual analogue scale (VAS). Abstract Methotrexate (MTX), an antimetabolite of folic acid, is a drug widely used in the treatment of different types of cancer. When high doses are administered, it is necessary to interrupt its action by administering calcium leucovorin (CaL). The main pathway of MTX and CaL elimination in humans occurs through the kidney, but about 10% is excreted in the faeces via the bile. Drugs, foods and sorbents in intestinal lumen modify MTX and CaL reabsorption. Analysis and optimization of hybrid double lap aluminum-GFRP joints

In this paper a systematic investigation of the mechanical performance of hybrid double-lap Al-GFRP bonded-bolted joints, has been carried out by using experimental analyses and numerical simulations. In order to detect the optimal geometric configuration, as well as to highlight the contribution of adhesive and bolts, the results relative to hybrid joints have been compared with those of simply adhesively bonded and simply bolted joints. Cells of extramammary Paget's disease express cytokeratins different from those of epidermal cells.

The patterns of expression of cytokeratin polypeptides which are closely correlated to routes of differentiation of epithelial cells were studied in extramammary Paget's disease. Cytokeratins of uninvolved and involved epidermis were analyzed by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis of microdissected tissue preparations as well as by immunofluorescence microscopy using cytokeratin antibodies with different specificities. In uninvolved epidermis, cytokeratins Nos. 1, 5, 6, 10, 11, 14, and 16, characteristic of keratinocytes, were found. Maxillary bone lesions in McCune-Albright syndrome:a case report

Abstract Objectives In this study, we report on the clinical maxillary manifestations of a patient affected by McCune-Albright syndrome and the implications for orthodontic therapy. Materials and methods A male, 8-year-old patient was examined at the Department of Orthodontics of the University of L’Aquila for a problem of anterior open-bite.
