Micro-Raman investigation of X or gamma irradiated Ge doped fibers

2011

International audience; Micro-Raman spectra have been recorded on Ge doped optical fibers before and after 10 keV-X or c-ray irradiation up to doses of 1 MGy (X-ray) or 7.8 MGy (-ray). Our data provide evidence that, at such dose levels, the glass matrix is not modified in a detectable way. We observed that varying the Ge doping levels from 0 to about 11 wt.%, X or radiation sensitivity of the overall matrix remains unchanged. Such results are observed for fibers obtained with drawing conditions within the usual range used for the fabrication of specialty fibers as radiation-tolerant waveguides. Our data support the potentiality of fiberbased sensors using glass properties, e.g. Raman sc…

High-Pressure Raman Scattering of CaWO4 Up to 46.3 GPa: Evidence of a New High-Pressure Phase

2014

International audience; The high-pressure behavior of CaWO4 wasanalyzed at room temperature by Raman spectroscopy.Pressure was generated using a diamond-anvil cell and Ne aspressure-transmitting medium. The pressure range of previousstudies has been extended from 23.4 to 46.3 GPa. Theexperiments reveal the existence of two reversible phasetransitions. The first one occurs from the tetragonal scheelitestructure to the monoclinic fergusonite structure and isobserved at 10 GPa. The onset of a previously unknownsecond transition is found at 33.4 GPa. The two high-pressurephases coexist up to 39.4 GPa. The Raman spectra measuredfor the low-pressure phase and the first high-pressure phase arecons…

Symmetry breakings in a metal organic framework with a confined guest

2020

The MOF $[{\text{Fe(tvp)}}_{2}{(\text{NCS})}_{2}]\ifmmode\cdot\else\textperiodcentered\fi{}2\text{BzCHO}$ is demonstrated to undergo a complex sequence of phase transitions and spin-crossover behavior of its constitutive ${\text{Fe}}^{\text{II}}$ ions upon adsorption of benzaldehyde guest molecules. Our study, combining Raman and synchrotron x-ray diffraction measurements on a single crystal, reveals that the conversion from the pure high-spin to the pure low-spin phases implies a rich sequence of intermediate phases, with symmetry breaking forming at least three different space groups. These different symmetries involve spin-state ordering, ligand ordering, and guest ordering, interpreted …

New theoretical and experimental concepts for frequency generation in optical fibers: modulation instability, pulsed Raman Laser and kinetic approach…

2009

Following a brief introduction to optical fibers, we combine the effect of modulational instability and Raman self-frequency shift to generate a frequency combs with a spectral width higher than 100 nm and a central frequency shifted towards higher wavelengths. Then, the stimulated Raman effect is used in a ring cavity coupled with nonlinear polarization rotation and polarization filtering. A pulsed regime is obtained at the wavelength of the first Stokes emission and presents a rich zoology of experimental dynamic pulsed regimes. A second main line of this manuscript considers the incoherent regime of supercontinuum generation. We show that under certain conditions, the spectral broadening…

Ondes scélérates optiques

2008

2013

The technological advances in areas such as automotive and aerospace industries require materials capable of withstanding demanding conditions. Surface treatments are effective tools to improve the surface properties of materials while preserving their bulk properties. Besides many conventional processes, laser treatments are efficient methods for hardening and increasing the durability of materials. This work is focused on the growth of titanium oxynitride surface layers by laser irradiation of pure titanium plates with nanosecond pulsed sources. The influence of the laser treatment conditions on the composition and the structure of these surface layers was studied. In particular, for lase…

Fiber-based light source for biomedical applications

2013

This manuscript presents the work done concerning the development of a light source used for biomedical imaging and more particularly for coherent Raman scattering imaging. In fact an efficient broadcasting of these ones is hampered by the need of two synchronized and wavelength shifted pulses. As so, the handiness and frequency conversion capabilities of nonlinear fiber optics are used to circumvent this technological lock. First of all, an easy wavelength tunable source is set by the use of the self-shifting in optical frequency of a soliton. A study of the main fiber parameters lead to shifts of 320 to more than 500 nm which allows interesting molecular resonances imaging (≈ 1000-4000 cm…
