Background Varicella is a highly infectious disease with a significant public health and economic burden, which can be prevented with childhood routine varicella vaccination. Vaccination strategies differ by country. In the present paper a state-of-the-art large eddy simulation model (LES-COAST), suited for the analysis of water circulation and mixing in closed or semi-closed areas, is presented and applied to the study of the hydrodynamic characteristics of the Muggia bay, the industrial harbor of the city of Trieste, Italy. The model solves the non-hydrostatic, unsteady Navier–Stokes equations, under the Boussinesq approximation for temperature and salinity buoyancy effects, using a novel, two-eddy viscosity Smagorinsky model for the closure of the subgrid-scale momentum fluxes. The analog signals generated in the read-out electronics of particle detectors are shaped prior to the digitization in order to improve the signal to noise ratio (SNR). The real amplitude of the analog signal is then obtained using digital filters, which provides information about the energy deposited in the detector. Abstract The aim of this study was to assess the predictive value of pretreatment cephalometric parameters and apical base size for successful correction of Angle Class II Division 2 malocclusion. Pretreatment lateral cephalograms and pretreatment and posttreatment study casts of 96 subjects with Class II Division 2 malocclusions were examined to obtain 23 cephalometric parameters and to measure the size of the apical bases. Nonlocal games are used to display differences between classical and quantum world In this paper, we study nonlocal games with a large number of players We give simple methods for calculating the classical and the quantum values for symmetric XOR games with one-bit input per player, a subclass of nonlocal games We illustrate those methods on the example of the N-player game (due to Ardehali [Ard92]) that provides the maximum quantum-over-classical advantage.
Equivalence closure in the two-variable guarded fragment

We consider the satisfiability and finite satisfiability problems for the extension of the two-variable guarded fragment in which an equivalence closure operator can be applied to two distinguished binary predicates. We show that the satisfiability and finite satisfiability problems for this logic are 2-ExpTime-complete. This contrasts with an earlier result that the corresponding problems for the full two-variable logic with equivalence closures of two binary predicates are 2-NExpTime-complete.
