Elliptic and Hexadecapole Flow of Charged Hadrons inAu+AuCollisions atsNN=200  GeV

2010

Differential measurements of the elliptic (upsilon(2)) and hexadecapole (upsilon(4)) Fourier flow coefficients are reported for charged hadrons as a function of transverse momentum (p(T)) and collision centrality or number of participant nucleons (N-part) for Au + Au collisions at root s(NN) = 200 GeV/ The upsilon(2,4) measurements at pseudorapidity vertical bar eta vertical bar <= 0.35, obtained with four separate reaction-plane detectors positioned in the range 1.0 < vertical bar eta vertical bar < 3.9, show good agreement, indicating the absence of significant Delta eta-dependent nonflow correlations. Sizable values for upsilon(4)(p(T)) are observed with a ratio upsilon(4)(p(T), N-part)/…

Global polarization of Λ and Λ¯ hyperons in Pb-Pb collisions at sNN= 2.76 and 5.02 TeV

2020

The global polarization of the $\Lambda$ and $\overline\Lambda$ hyperons is measured for Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}}$ = 2.76 and 5.02 TeV recorded with the ALICE at the LHC. The results are reported differentially as a function of collision centrality and hyperon's transverse momentum ($p_{\rm{T}}$) for the range of centrality 5-50%, $0.5 < p_{\rm{T}} <5$ GeV/$c$, and rapidity $|y|<0.5$. The hyperon global polarization averaged for Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}}$ = 2.76 and 5.02 TeV is found to be consistent with zero, $\langle P_{\rm{H}}\rangle$ (%) $\approx$ 0.01 $\pm$ 0.06 (stat.) $\pm$ 0.03 (syst.) in the collision centrality range 15-50%, where the largest signal i…

WγProduction and Limits on AnomalousWWγCouplings inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2011

We measure the cross section and the difference in rapidities between photons and charged leptons for inclusive W -> lnu+gamma production in egamma and mugamma final states. Using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.2 fb-1 collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, the cross section multiplied by the branching fraction for the process ppbar -> Wgamma+X -> lnugamma+X, measured to be 15.8 +/- 0.8 (stat.) +/- 1.2 (syst.) pb, and the distribution of the charge-signed photon-lepton rapidity difference are found to be in agreement with the standard model. These results provide the most stringent limits on anomalous WWgamma couplings for data from hadron coll…

Observation of Long-Range Elliptic Azimuthal Anisotropies ins=13and 2.76 TeVppCollisions with the ATLAS Detector

2016

ATLAS has measured two-particle correlations as a function of relative azimuthal-angle, $\Delta \phi$, and pseudorapidity, $\Delta \eta$, in $\sqrt{s}$=13 and 2.76 TeV $pp$ collisions at the LHC using charged particles measured in the pseudorapidity interval $|\eta|$<2.5. The correlation functions evaluated in different intervals of measured charged-particle multiplicity show a multiplicity-dependent enhancement at $\Delta \phi \sim 0$ that extends over a wide range of $\Delta\eta$, which has been referred to as the "ridge". Per-trigger-particle yields, $Y(\Delta \phi)$, are measured over 2<$|\Delta\eta|$<5. For both collision energies, the $Y(\Delta \phi)$ distribution in all multiplicity …

Suppression of Back-to-Back Hadron Pairs at Forward Rapidity ind+AuCollisions atsNN=200  GeV

2011

Back-to-back hadron pair yields in d + Au and p + p collisions at root S-NN = 200 GeV were measured with the PHENIX detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Rapidity separated hadron pairs were detected with the trigger hadron at pseudorapidity vertical bar eta vertical bar < 0: 35 and the associated hadron at forward rapidity (deuteron direction, 3.0< eta < 3.8). Pairs were also detected with both hadrons measured at forward rapidity; in this case, the yield of back-to-back hadron pairs in d + Au collisions with small impact parameters is observed to be suppressed by a factor of 10 relative to p + p collisions. The kinematics of these pairs is expected to probe partons in the Au nu…

Measurement of the forward-backward asymmetries in the production ofΞandΩbaryons inpp¯collisions

2016

We measure the forward-backward asymmetries $A_{\rm FB}$ of charged $\Xi$ and $\Omega$ baryons produced in $p \bar{p}$ collisions recorded by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider at $\sqrt{s} = 1.96$ TeV as a function of the baryon rapidity $y$. We find that the asymmetries $A_{\rm FB}$ for charged $\Xi$ and $\Omega$ baryons are consistent with zero within statistical uncertainties.

Measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry ofΛandΛ¯production inpp¯collisions

2016

We study $\Lambda$ and $\bar{\Lambda}$ production asymmetries in $p \bar{p} \rightarrow \Lambda (\bar{\Lambda}) X$, $p \bar{p} \rightarrow J/\psi \Lambda (\bar{\Lambda}) X$, and $p \bar{p} \rightarrow \mu^\pm \Lambda (\bar{\Lambda}) X$ events recorded by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider at $\sqrt{s} = 1.96$ TeV. We find an excess of $\Lambda$'s ($\bar{\Lambda}$'s) produced in the proton (antiproton) direction. This forward-backward asymmetry is measured as a function of rapidity. We confirm that the $\bar{\Lambda}/\Lambda$ production ratio, measured by several experiments with various targets and a wide range of energies, is a universal function of "rapidity loss", i.e., th…

Measurements of the Nuclear Modification Factor for Jets inPb+PbCollisions atsNN=2.76  TeVwith the ATLAS Detector

2015

Measurements of inclusive jet production are performed in pp and Pb+Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 4.0 pb−1 and 0.14 nb−1, respectively. The jets are identified with the anti-kt algorithm with R = 0.4, and the spectra are measured over the kinematic range of jet transverse momentum 32 < pT < 500 GeV, and absolute rapidity |y| < 2.1 and as a function of collision centrality. The nuclear modification factor, RAA, is evaluated and jets are found to be suppressed by approximately a factor of two in central collisions compared to pp collisions. The RAA shows a slight increase with pT and no significant variation wi…

J/ψElliptic Flow in Pb-Pb Collisions atsNN=2.76  TeV

2013

We report on the first measurement of inclusive J/psi elliptic flow v(2) in heavy-ion collisions at the LHC. The measurement is performed with the ALICE detector in Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV in the rapidity range 2.5 < y < 4.0. The dependence of the J/psi v(2) on the collision centrality and on the J/psi transverse momentum is studied in the range 0 <= p(T) < 10 GeV/c. For semicentral Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV, an indication of nonzero v(2) is observed with a largest measured value of v(2) = 0.116 +/-0.046(stat) +/- 0.029(syst) for J/psi in the transverse momentum range 2 <= p(T) < 4 GeV/c. The elliptic flow measurement complements the previously reported ALI…

Centrality Dependence of the Charged-Particle Multiplicity Density at Midrapidity in Pb-Pb Collisions atsNN=5.02  TeV

2016

The pseudorapidity density of charged particles, dNch/dη, at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions has been measured at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of √sNN=5.02 TeV. For the 5% most central collisions, we measure a value of 1943 ± 54. The rise in dNch/dη as a function of √sNN p is steeper than that observed in proton-proton collisions and follows the trend established by measurements at lower energy. The increase of dNch/dη as a function of the average number of participant nucleons, ⟨Npart⟩, calculated in a Glauber model, is compared with the previous measurement at √sNN=2.76 TeV. A constant factor of about 1.2 describes the increase in dNch/dη from √sNN=2.76 to 5.02 TeV for all cen…
