A Comparative Study of Natural Fiber and Glass Fiber Fabrics Properties with Metal or Oxide Coatings
2015
Rapidly growing global demand for technical textiles industries is stimulated to develop new materials based on hybrid materials (yarns, fabrics) made from natural and glass fibres. The influence of moisture on the electrical properties of metal and metal oxide coated bast (flax, hemp) fibre and glass fibre fabrics are studied by electrical impedance spectroscopy and thermogravimetry. The bast fibre and glass fiber fabrics are characterized with electrical sheet resistance. The method for description of electrical sheet resistance of the metal and metal oxide coated technical textile is discussed. The method can be used by designers to estimate the influence of moisture on technical data of…
Influence of sample pan on the thermal behaviour of KSCN measured with TG
2003
Abstract In this study, the influence of the sample pan on the thermal behaviour of potassium thiocyanate (KSCN) was investigated. The measurements were performed with thermogravimetry (TG) and the two sample pans used were a platinum pan and a ceramic crucible. The samples were heated to 400–950 °C and the thermal products were identified by powder diffraction. The thermal behaviour of KSCN was found to be dependent on the sample pan used. With the platinum sample pan KSCN reacted in the first step into a mixture of K 2 SO 4 and potassium tetracyanoplatinate (K 2 Pt(CN) 4 ). In the second step, the mixture reacted further to pure K 2 SO 4 . In the ceramic sample crucible, however, the reac…
Thymoma and paraneoplastic myasthenia gravis
2010
Paraneoplastic autoimmune diseases associate occasionally with small cell lung cancers and gynecologic tumors. However, myasthenia gravis (MG) occurs in at least 30% of all patients with thymomas (usually present at MG diagnosis). These epithelial neoplasms almost always have numerous admixed maturing polyclonal T cells (thymocytes). This thymopoiesis-and export of mature CD4(+)T cells-particularly associates with MG, though there are rare/puzzling exceptions in apparently pure epithelial WHO type A thymomas. Other features potentially leading to inefficient self-tolerance induction include defective epithelial expression of the autoimmune regulator (AIRE) gene and/or of major histocompatib…
Théorie du marché du travail, éducation et distribution des revenus
1975
Traduit de "Theories of labor Market, Education and Income Distribution"; International audience
Formation et carrières
1991
Short-Term Stability of Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), N-Desmethyl-LSD, and 2-Oxo-3-hydroxy-LSD in Urine, Assessed by Liquid Chromatography–Tandem…
2002
Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) is one of the most potent hallucinogenic agents known. Recently, data on emergency department episodes related to the use of drugs commonly thought as “club drugs” have also included LSD (1). Confirmation of LSD use by testing biological fluids is still an analytical challenge because of its extensive, rapid metabolism and its instability (2)(3)(4). After ingestion of a typical street dose (40–120 μg), the concentration of LSD in urine falls to <1 μg/L within a few hours (2)(5)(6). Recently, N -desmethyl-LSD (nor-LSD) and 2-oxo-3-hydroxy-LSD (O-H-LSD) have been identified as LSD metabolites in human urine (7)(8). Measured nor-LSD concentrations were reported…
Fluorescence Properties of the Chromophore-Binding Domain of Bacteriophytochrome from Deinococcus radiodurans
2013
Fluorescent proteins are versatile tools for molecular imaging. In this study, we report a detailed analysis of the absorption and fluorescence properties of the chromophore-binding domain from Deinococcus radiodurans and its D207H mutant. Using single photon counting and transient absorption techniques, the average excited state lifetime of both studied systems was about 370 ps. The D207H mutation slightly changed the excited state decay profile but did not have a considerable effect on the average decay time of the system or the shape of the absorption and emission spectra of the biliverdin chromophore. We confirmed that the fluorescence properties of both samples are very similar in vivo…
Fennel waste-based films suitable for protecting cultivations.
2007
Biodegradable, flexible, and moisture-resistant films were obtained by recycling fennel waste and adding to fennel homogenates the bean protein phaseolin that was modified or not modified by the enzyme transglutaminase. All films were analyzed for their morphology, mechanical properties, water vapor permeability, and susceptibility to biodegradation under soil-like conditions. Our experiments showed that transglutaminase treatment of the phaseolin-containing fennel waste homogenates allowed us to obtain films comparable in their mechanical properties and water vapor permeability to the commercial films Ecoflex and Mater-Bi. Furthermore, biodegradability tests demonstrated that the presence …
Photo-Cross-Linked Hydrogels with Polysaccharide−Poly(amino acid) Structure: New Biomaterials for Pharmaceutical Applications
2006
The aim of this work has been the preparation and characterization of novel hydrogels with polysaccharide-poly(amino acid) structure having suitable physicochemical properties for pharmaceutical applications. In the first step, hyaluronic acid (HA) and alpha,beta-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl)-DL-aspartamide (PHEA) have been derivatized with methacrylic anhydride (AMA), thus obtaining HA-AMA and PHM derivatives, respectively. In the second step, aqueous solutions of both these derivatives have been irradiated at 313 nm to obtain chemical hydrogels. The hydrogel obtained by irradiating for 15 min an aqueous solution containing 4% w/v of HA-AMA and 4% w/v of PHM resulted in the highest yield. Its swe…
Changes in the Phytoalexin Content of Various Vitis Spp. in Response to Ultraviolet C Elicitation
1999
The phytoalexin production potential of three American Vitis species and that of three cultivars of Vitis vinifera were evaluated in response to UV-C irradiation. Time course changes in resveratrol, piceid, epsilon-viniferin, and pterostilbene contents were studied within 3 days after a short UV-C irradiation. Results show that the two major stilbenes accumulated as a response to UV-C elicitation are resveratrol and epsilon-viniferin, a resveratrol dehydrodimer, the concentration of both compounds usually reaching quantities >100 microgram/g of fresh weight. In contrast, piceid and pterostilbene were constantly produced in low quantities. Owing to the results obtained, the role of stilbene …
