Uniportal bilateral video-assisted sequential thoracoscopic extended thymectomy

Standard video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery has been reported as a minimally invasive approach alternative to sternotomy for management of myasthenia gravis (MG) associated with thymoma or thymic hyperplasia. Uniportal video-thoracoscopy is an evolution of standard multi-portal video-thoracoscopy for management of several thoracic diseases but its role for resecting mediastinal tumor remains under-evaluated. Herein, we describe our experience with bilateral uniportal thoracoscopic sequential extended thymectomy with case and video illustrations.

Tämä tutkielma käsittelee eri tiedekuntien opiskelijoiden ruotsin ja englannin kielen käyttöä opiskeluaikaisessa työelämässä sekä opiskelijoiden käsityksiä tulevaisuuden työelämän kielitai-totarpeista ja kielitaitovaatimuksista eri aloilla. Tutkimusmenetelmä on deskriptiivinen ja enimmäkseen kvalitatiivinen. Tutkimusaineisto ke-rättiin sähköisen kyselylomakkeen avulla keväällä 2012. Lomake lähetettiin kolmen eri tiede-kunnan opiskelijoille sähköpostilistojen kautta ja kyselyyn vastasi yhteensä 225 opiskelijaa. The impact of life stage and pigment source on the evolution of novel warning signal traits

Our understanding of how novel warning color traits evolve in natural populations is largely based on studies of reproductive stages and organisms with endogenously produced pigmentation. In these systems, genetic drift is often required for novel alleles to overcome strong purifying selection stemming from frequency-dependent predation and positive assortative mating. 1.Trade‐offs have been shown to play an important role in the divergence of mating strategies and sexual ornamentation, but their importance in explaining warning signal diversity has received less attention. In aposematic organisms, allocation costs of producing the conspicuous warning signal pigmentation under nutritional stress could potentially trade‐off with life‐history traits and maintain variation in warning colouration. 2.
